  • Poppin' Good Time Learning Financial Literacy

    Funded Jan 29, 2019

Thank you so much for the resources provided for our school store! Our popcorn sales have never been better - or tasted better! The students started cheering when they saw all of the new seasonings that are now available at our store. You have made our Econ unit so much more fun!

Our classroom cooks are popping the popcorn kernels, buttering, and seasoning with the tools you helped to supply. Our classroom store managers are taking inventory of our supplies, managing orders, assisting cashiers with sales, and filling popcorn orders for our class using the brown paper bags you helped to fund! Our waiters and waitresses are ensuring the correct orders are taken to the customers.

These supplies have stocked our school store for students to purchase with their (fake) classroom money. The popcorn is a great, health incentive that entices students to spend their earnings from their classroom jobs' paychecks. Through this fun school store, students are learning how to plan for their future expenses, make wise choices with money, and manage their financial resources! We thank you for your donation to make this school store happen!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Temple

  • Classroom Projections

    Funded Mar 16, 2018

Thank you so much for supporting our project Classroom Projections! With a projector, I am finally able to integrate technology into our lessons and display the information to the entire class. My students are thrilled we no longer have to crowd around a small computer screen! I project Power Points, career cluster charts, stream videos, play class games, explore current events, play music, explain the transition to intermediate school to my 3rd graders, and SO much more!

This projector has been a major asset to our class and my students' learning experience. I am confident that this addition to our classroom will continue to increase student interest and promote learning. Thank you so much for your support, and providing a projector to our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Temple

  • Breaking Away from Traditional Classroom Learning!

    Funded Sep 12, 2017

We have had the BEST time with our Break Out game and materials! Once we received all of the materials, I set up a career themed Break Out game. Students worked in groups to solve each puzzle, clue, problem, etc. to find codes and unlock the locks and toolbox.

The kids thought the game was so cool. I think an overall favorite part was putting together the blank puzzle pieces, then using the UV flashlight to read the hidden ink clue. All of my classes so far have been able to open the toolbox in time to win (although one class only by the skin of their teeth!) They had a ball working as a team, and as a whole class together to "break" into the toolbox.

We can't thank you enough for your donations and the materials you provided. I know this game will be an ongoing part of my career classes for many years!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Temple

  • Classroom Projections

    Funded May 7, 2015

Thank you so much for supporting our project Classroom Projections! With a projector, I am finally able to integrate technology into our lessons and display the information to the entire class. My students are thrilled we no longer have to crowd around a small computer screen! I project business models, career cluster charts, stream videos, play class jeopardy, explore current events, play music, display PowerPoints on the upcoming transition to middle school, and SO much more! Our class's favorite thing to do is look at the Boeing Dreamliner flight tracker, that we learned about when we traveled to and toured the Boeing Company in North Charleston earlier this year. This projector has been a major asset to our class and my students' learning experience. I am confident that this addition to our classroom will continue to increase student interest and promote learning. Thank you so much for your support, and providing a projector to our classroom!”

  • Technology In The Classroom

    Funded May 7, 2015

Thank you for your generous donation to fund my Donors Choose project. My students and I are very excited about having our own classroom ipad. We have great plans and ideas for several uses with the iPad.

Technology is now a part of our everyday life, and many educators try to teach their students the various opportunities in our classrooms today. Motivating students can be a challenge. I know this project will help me engage students in our guidance program.

    I really appreciate your kindness.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Temple

I am a school counselor, and travel between two schools. My students are a mixture of all ability levels. Some students are gifted, reading at the high school level, while some others are very low level readers - or can't read at all (kindergarten). Our elementary school serves pre-K - 3rd grade. Our intermediate school includes 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. During my class, my students learn about character education, careers, teamwork, and life skills!
