These Scholastic News student magazines will make a difference in my student's lives by bringing the world into the classroom. I will use these materials weekly to enhance the students content knowledge, vocabulary and nonfiction reading skills. Scholastic News Edition 2 and Science Spin are weekly nonfiction print and digital magazine for second-grade classrooms that bring current events to life for my students. The students love the magazines because they can take their copy home to share. I love the magazines because they correlate to our standards, their online resources include nonfiction videos for current issues plus a two-year archive that I can use to reinforce other classroom lessons, vocabulary words with photos and definitions, skill-building games and other features that enhance the value of their product. The StoryWorks 2 magazine is published six times a year and includes all elements of language instruction. The online component also offers read-aloud options, including video read-alouds that bring the stories to life for my young readers. I can differentiate all of the texts using the online component for readers of different levels.
