  • Portable Computer For Creative Minds

    Funded Jan 10, 2023

It was great gratitude on receiving the computer. I was able to utilize it daily while in the classroom for my students with exceptionalities. The laptop was used by the students who were not comfortable staying on the traditional desk stop computer. One of the benefits was it allowed for students to become engaged in interactive lessons. Students enjoyed using the laptop during Kahoot lessons. They had the ability to stay focused on the promethean board rather than reading the questions and running back to the desktop computers to answer and receive points. One the greatest benefits of the laptop was the happiness the students expressed s”

  • While Remote Learning, Teachers Still Love Apples

    Funded Feb 7, 2022

Thank you so much for all your donations. My students were really excited for us when we received our donation. Due to the pandemic, computers are essential in and out the classroom more than ever before. After receiving our donations my I was able to create interactive lessons more effectively. Also, I was able to utilize the computer daily while in the classroom to support the general education teacher as well as helping my students with exceptionalities. While in the classroom I would sit with my students to monitor their usage on the online platform iReady. I was able to see how much time they were spending on their lessons that were targeted and based on their individualized grade level. Also, we would sit together after students' growth monitoring and diagnostic assessments, I would show students their point growth after the assessments. Another data chat session I would utilize the computer with the computer was after topic assessments. After student's would finish their topic assessments, we would sit together to review the questions on the assessments and have a mini differentiation instruction session.

In addition to using the computer for data chats, I was able to use the computer to have online meetings with parents. Due to the Covid-19, most parents opted in to having zoom meetings. Parent communication become easy accessible and frequent. Parents enjoyed being able to meet with me while also being able to handle household duties. One of the greatest benefits is having more than one parent attend the zoom meetings.

I believe one of the greatest rewards of allowing students to utilize the computer. Many times the school computers would not work. Sometimes I would allow students as partners to use the computer to research. Students really enjoyed being able to use the "teacher's computer," which I used as a reward. In addition, my students and I would sit together and work on different online platforms. I was able to do one-on-one teaching sessions with students. The students would always love having one-on-one time with me, which to me was the best part of receiving my donations.”

The item I selected will help my students by allowing us easy access to technology. Technology is imperative for both students and a teacher. I support general education teachers in their classroom, therefore; I do not have access to a computer once I enter a teachers classroom. With this computer I will be able to have accessibility to resources, student tracking information, online learning platforms, and open communications with all stakeholders. In addition, due to the pandemic this laptop assists with dual mobility of distance learning. The goal is to be able to provide technological instructional strategies and support to both the general education teacher and the students. The computer will be used for data chats with students based on the district wide platform of iReady. I will be able to give them scores as soon as they complete a growth monitoring or diagnostic assessment. In addition, the computer will provide easy access to virtual learning for students at home. The computer would also be used for zooming with students and parents. To provide services to my students I must meet with parents regularly and more than 75% of my parents still prefer to do virtual meetings through zoom. This computer will assist with these meetings.
