Providing students with autism the correct equipment in a physical setting can create a wonderful learning experience for the student. Activities that require the use of their senses and vestibule system work best with children that have autism. Swinging, jumping, and spinning are just a few of the activities that help to develop their physical goals. It is important to develop an active and suitable environment in order to help individuals with autism address issues related to weight control, muscular endurance, muscular strength, cardiovascular endurance, self-esteem, and self confidence. Physical exercise reduces aggression, hyperactivity and stereotypical behavior in children with autism. Successful practice in Physical Education builds trust and hopefully will carry over into the mainstreamed environment with the rest of their peers.
