  • Welcome to Medical School! (part 2)

    Funded Nov 13, 2024

Our class is now filled with Harvard Medical School students. We've learned about the skeletal system, the muscular system, and are now studying the circulatory system. The students love to wear their white coats when we study and perform "surgery" with the paper parts of the body. The little models have also helped to provide a physical explanation of the parts that we are learning. For example, they just examined the 4 chambers of the heart through the little model - the right and left atrium, and right and left ventricles. Can't wait to continue our learning with the digestive system and the respiratory system. We cannot thank you enough for your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Oh

  • Circuits & Motors & Robots, Oh My!

    Funded Nov 13, 2024

Have you ever created a circuit with a child, and experienced the buzz and excitement when the motor runs or the light bulb turns on? The thrill that buzzed through our classroom when our Bristlebots started moving was unlike any other. We created a maze for the Bristlebots to go through. Unfortunately many of the Bristlebots just went in circles instead of moving forward, but the project was still so exciting! We can't wait to build more circuits with the materials in this project this school year. Thank you so much for supporting us!”

  • Do MoMath!

    Funded Jan 14, 2020

MoMath is an exciting museum where students can interact with many mathematical concepts. Our class was so excited to go and had a blast when we were there. The students especially loved riding the bikes with the non-circular wheels - they were squares and triangles. It was tough to ride them because of the shape, but that's what made the experience interesting. They also enjoyed the human tree where they could see themselves through the projector combined to make a fractal tree that moves. We couldn't have experienced this without your support. Thank you so much!”

  • Put the Happy in the Holidays

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

Hope you had a great holiday season (sorry - a little late)! Thanks to you, we've had a great performance at our school's Holiday Show! The kids were shining bright with their necklaces as they performed "Put the Happy in the Holidays" by Disney Channel Stars. They loved that they were able to keep the necklaces after all of our performances.

We also were able to have a successful gingerbread house making day! Things got messy, but the kids had a lot of fun. Thank you so much for supporting us so that we can have fun holiday projects like this.”

  • Stay Safe

    Funded Sep 24, 2021

It seems like the pandemic was not too long ago, but it has already been 5 years! We had to find ways to keep our classroom safe and hygienic, and because of your donation, we were able to have the supplies that kept us safe. Thank you so much! I apologize for the much-delayed gratitude, but please know that the supplies have been used daily to help with the spread of germs during the year after remote learning. It was a whirlwind of a year for sure. Thank you again for your generous donation and support!”

  • Books Galore!

    Funded Sep 24, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation of books to our classroom! Your contribution has expanded our classroom library, and we are deeply appreciative of your support. These new books have opened up new opportunities for exploration and learning, and have helped cultivate a love for reading. Every year, our class favorites are Elephant and Piggie and Fly Guy. With the new books, our students now have access to a diverse range of topics, allowing them to grow both academically and personally.

Thank you once again for your support! We appreciate you!”

  • Back to School! Stay Safe.

    Funded Aug 20, 2020

The past school year has been quite a challenging year. I started off the year going into the school building to teach remotely, then staying home to teach remotely, and then ending the year by rotating teaching remotely and at school throughout the week. There were so many changes, but thanks to all you donors, I didn't have to worry about having enough supplies when teaching at home or at school. When I was in school, I was so grateful to have soap, sanitizer, and disinfecting wipes to keep my classroom clean. These supplies depleted quite quickly because we were using them so often, so I was thankful to have enough. Thank you again for everything! Stay safe.”

  • Visuals & Manipulatives for Distance Learning

    Funded May 6, 2020

Thank you for your support! The past school year, teachers completely revamped the way they taught by learning how to teach students remotely. Supplies had to be brought home and bought to help with distance learning. With the printer, I was able to print out anchor charts to show my students when filming my lessons. I was also able to print assessments to grade because sometimes things are easier to grade with pen and paper rather than on a computer. Additionally, with the manipulatives, I was able to teach math more efficiently. I filmed my math lessons, so the manipulatives were a great help in explaining math strategies and concepts. Thank you for everything!”

Our school is full of students who are curious, creative, and eager to learn. We are located in Chinatown, where many of my students come from low-income bilingual households. We are in need of resources to help us succeed in the classroom and also out in the real world. As a teacher creating learning opportunities that connect to student strengths and interests, we need resources to challenge our minds, think critically, and nurture independence. Thank you for your support!
