  • Help Me Refine My Teaching Skills

    Funded Dec 2, 2018

The fulfillment of this project has already had such an impact on my teaching and student learning. Soon as I received the materials, I started using them for planning reading intervention lessons. The books by Jan Richardson and Jennifer Serrvallo provide strategies and detail the specific reading behaviors that I would need to model for students reading below the standard performance level in third grade. I am also using the book Happy Teachers Change the World as a book club text with a small group of my colleagues. The glow of this book club is to ensure that new and more experience teachers establish a healthy work & life balance. Lastly, the table top board allows me to model how to use the strategy at the start of each lesson and also display mini strategy charts. It makes the delivery of my small group lessons much easier and smoother.

Thank you for your kind and generous donation. Donors like yourself make a world of a difference!”

    With gratitude,

  • Fund My Reading Caddy

    Funded Aug 20, 2015

The resources we received as a result of your donation has made such an impact in student engagement and learning. Using the caddy allows me to travel from classroom to classroom with all of the resources and materials I need for each group. The dry erase boards and markers allows me to plan interactive small group lessons. The students are always excited to use the dry erase boards and enjoy displaying their responses and having conversation. I would like to take this opporuntity to thank you for your generous gift and making my students feel like people care about them and value education!”

  • Make Our ELA Assembly Exciting!!!

    Funded Mar 23, 2013

I would like to take this opportunity to thank both of you, along with Rhonda Palmer for contributing to my proposal. I am glad there are people like you, that believe it is important to support New York City teachers. Because of your contribution I am able to engage the K-2 students in ELA instruction, during the weekly assembly. Today I used the easel, markers, and stickers during the second grade assembly. I found that keeping score was much easier, and because the students were able to see their scores they were engaged in the question and answer game. Students were competitive and worked in teams to score points. The stickers also motivated the students to answer questions.

Again thank you for your generous gift.”

  • Star Books + Star Bins= Star Readers

    Funded Dec 2, 2012

My kindergarteners recieved the books you donated to our school. I am pleased to inform you that they all recieved the books with such excitment. They were eager to look at the pictures and tell the stories across the pages.

Since receiving the books the students have had the opportunity, to read to their reading partners and teachers. I sincerely want to thank you for your generous gift, and it is donors like yourself that enhance the academic lives of my young learners.

Thank you for giving the gift of reading!”

  • Chart It Up!!!!!

    Funded Aug 8, 2012

Thank you so much for your thoughtful gift, and because of your gift many teachers in my school are able to create a print rich environment for our young learners. An exciting and inviting literate classroom encourages students to take part in the many learning experiences provided at school. The moment one steps foot inside

a classroom one can usually tell what is important to the teacher in terms of the

type of working literacy environment he or she sets up for the students. In a

classroom that encourages literacy learning, one may find examples of displayed

print criteria and process charts. Teachers now have the opportunity to provide students with the scaffolds necessary for learning in literacy and other content areas.

Thank you again and your generosity is greatly appreciated.”

  • Making Mathematics Fun!

    Funded Jan 7, 2011

I must begin by stating that your donation has made a significant impact in my class. Soon as the math centers and manipulatives arrived the students were excited, and eager to use them. Before they actually used the materials, I explained how this was a gift from some special people that thought my students were important and valued them. This sprung on a host of questions from my students. They were surprised to know, people that had no idea who they were cared enough to supply them with the needed materials, that would help them succeed academically.

Once I organized the materials, students developed math goals based on their needs. During center time students know what centers they need to use to master specific math skills. I have noticed that the students are motivated, and focused. I also noticed that using the manipulatives the students are working cooperatively and are having fun.

Your donation has changed the dynamic of the class and has create a class of mathematicians! Thank You :) ”

  • Create Our Visual!

    Funded Dec 31, 2010

Since receiving the materials that your donation made possible to us, I have been able to do so much. As you can see in the photos, I have been able to create charts that include visuals. With all the ink that your donation has supplied, I am able to include clip art on all of my classroom charts, this helps support my special needs students and makes the charts appealing to all the students. The transparencies allow me to print a lot of the material I need to present and display the information using the overhead. It provides me another form of teaching, and enriches the students learning experience. The color paper has been used in various class projects, and used to display student work on the classroom bulletin boards. These materials provide me the opportunity to display student projects in away that validates there work, and encourages the student to produce work at a higher level. The materials that your donation has provided us, has defiantly made an impact in our classroom. I am extremely grateful to donorschoose and donors like yourself. Please look for future projects. ”

  • We Are Running On Empty!

    Funded Dec 22, 2009

First, I would like to apologize for not completing my thank you package in a timely fashion. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generous donation. The fulfillment of my proposal, has allowed for my class to have ink for the printer. This allows me to incorporate the use of technology, in my classroom. Students are always asking to print research material for their projects, and so often I would not be able to allow them to, because I did not know if the school would be able to supply us with replacement ink.

With all the budget cuts things like ink and copy paper are the first things that are cut. Donors like yourself, allow for inner city students, to have the opportunities, that enrich their academic lives. Thank you for your support and consideration. ”

  • Getting Festive!

    Funded Dec 17, 2009

First I would like to apologize for not completing the thank you package in a timely fashion. I also would like to say that I am truly grateful for your generous gift, as so are my students. Unfortunately, I received this gift, after Christmas. For this reason, I was not able to take pictures of the tree and menorah. I did explain to my students that your gift will make a huge difference in how my future students will be able to celebrate Christmas, in my classroom. It is donors like yourself that continue to make an impact in the lives of teachers and students in inner city schools. Thanks again.”

  • Help Us Get Wordy!

    Funded Dec 17, 2009

Receiving your donation has made such an impact in my class. Not only do we have a complete set of dictionaries, to assist students in the writing process, but they are so excited to know that they no longer have to use worn dictionaries. I have incorporated the new dictionaries, in the classroom writing center. Students use them regularly to edit their writing. But most importantly, it amazed my students to know that their are donors like yourself, that without knowing them, you are willing to invest in them, and enhance their educational experience. Thank you for your generous gift. ”
