I am a special education teacher for middle school students. I work with students with various disabilities that impact their learning. Students usually come to me in 7th grade reading at a 2nd or 3rd grade level. My main priority is to increase their reading levels by the end of the year. To do this, I must get the students to love reading independently. I have found that they love certain types of books, and I would love to add these titles to my classroom collection. Students have told me that they had never read and I see them picking up a "Dog Man" book and reading it cover to cover in two days. I love to see the excitement for reading and I want to continue it through this project!
