Speech Fluency, Literacy and Self-Expression
Funded Sep 29, 2022I want to express sincere gratitude for your generous donations that helped fund the purchase of essential biographies and novels for my students. Because of your generosity, my speech-language students who struggle with reading and comprehension have been exposed to inspirational historical figures that they may not have otherwise been exposed to within the curriculum.
My students in grades 6-8 are currently reading well below level due to various learning and developmental disabilities. The "Little Dreamers" series of books that reflect African-American and multicultural historical figures are rich in content, yet written at a level appropriate for therapy sessions. These books are representative of their cultures, and they are currently writing their own mini biographies to express their self-worth and uniqueness.
Your generosity and support is directly making a positive impact on each of my students. I am wholeheartedly appreciative for your donations!”
With gratitude,

This classroom project was brought to life by An Anonymous Classroom Supporter.Let's Communicate!
Funded Mar 9, 2016Dear Donors:
I am so grateful for your generous contributions that enabled my students to access two iPad Air 2 tablets. Since receiving the iPads, my students have been able to access special apps that enhance social communication skills, as well as being able to access the internet to complete exit projects.
I have several students who are on the autism spectrum and exhibit social/pragmatic language deficits. There are two very helpful apps specifically created to enable students to associate facial expressions with variations in speech intonation, and understand figures of speech within a conversational context. Since receiving these iPads my students have been accessing these apps in therapy sessions. They have been enjoying using the iPads and have already made gains in their skills.
The iPads are also enabling my students the chance to do research for their exit projects in social studies and science. Many of my students do not have access to technology such as computers or tablets in the home, so giving them the opportunity to research their topics during their sessions ensures that they will meet deadlines and complete their projects.
All of you are making a direct positive impact on the future generation through your donations. Thank you for taking the time to think about our youth. It is because of your generosity and compassion that students who are frequently underrepresented in education can access the technology many others take for granted.”
With gratitude,
Ms. FINNIN
Time Keeps On Slipping...
Funded Jan 8, 2009I was so excited when I realized that my proposal to provide my students access to visual timers was fulfilled. Tears of gratitude for your generosity are falling down my face.
I can't quite articulate the the depth of how I am feeling, so a simple "thank you" seems so inappropriate. I am truly appreciative, and I can't wait to have my students learn to acquire time management skills by using these visual timers.
Sincerely,
Carol”
