Classroom Materials: Organization for Success in Music
Funded May 16, 2019Thank you all so much for your generous donations. These supplies has helped my students and program in every way possible. The binders and sheet protectors helped me create method books to last a very long time. Organizing these color coded binders helped teach my students routine and also made it easy for them to follow along during a lesson. The clipboard were a huge help in the beginning of the year because I teach in the auditorium. My students were able to use the clipboards to do class assignments instead of finding something to lean on. With all of your help, my students were able to focus on the lesson knowing they have everything they need to be sucessful.”

Jumpin' on That Band Wagon
Funded Jul 5, 2019I cannot thank you all enough for your contributions to this project. This cart has helped my students and I in so many ways. For me, it helped bring more instruments into my program. Being a new program catering 250 students meant that we needed much more instruments. The cart also helped me transfer instruments to and from a close far from my stage where I teach. My students were very involved in transporting the instruments back and forth. This cart has helped my program evolve and I my students and I couldn't be more thankful.”

Bells Are Ringing
Funded Feb 11, 2020Thank you so much for your help in getting my students these fabulous bell sets. It has really enhanced my band program and gave my percussionists an opportunity to play mallet percussion. I think it is important for them to be challenged in learning how to read notation just like the rest of the band. They were really excited and eager to play them. For my students that don't feel as confident playing the snare drum or bass drum, this was the perfect instrument to get them started. Thank you all so much again for your generosity.”

Can You Hear Us Now?
Funded May 10, 2019Thank you so much for making this project a success. The sound system we have for our shows now are incredible. The students can actually be heard playing their instruments and singing. The sound system changed the overall sound of the ensemble. When the students first saw the speakers, they were beyond excited. The immediately knew they were going to put on a great show where they can actually be heard. The next steps to make them even better is to get them better quality instruments. Again, thank you all so much for giving my students a much better experience in their music making.”

Funded May 10, 2019Thank you so much for funding my project. My students deserve to have nice percussion instruments that they can play on every day. Having nice things is not something that happens for my students so they will really appreciate it. My students are going to be extremely excited to use the crash cymbals and even more happy about not playing a snare drum on a chair. Thank you so much!!!”

A Need for a Reed
Funded Mar 5, 2019I cannot thank you enough for your contributions to my project. My students have felt frustrated playing on old and work out reeds that when received the package, they were so relieved. A lot of my students have become more comfortable and confident on their instruments that a harder level reed is just what they needed. They sound so much better and feel more confident about their musical abilities. The next steps for my students is to get them better quality instruments to play on that will allow them to excel even more than they are already. Thank you again for all of your donations because it is allowing them to continue their musical studies in high school.”

Funded Aug 22, 2018Thank you so much for your help in giving our school these 10 flutes. Although it seems like not that many flutes, you have impacted over 50 students. Our school had absolutely no music so this has been a fantastic opportunity for the students to be exposed to instrumental music. When I came last year, I was pleased to find out the school had a great amount of band instruments but absolutely no flutes. Being a flute player, preparing future flute players for high school is my goal.
When my students first saw the flutes their eyes opened wide and they were so surprised. For many students in this area, they have never seen or heard a flute before. They were pleased to find that it was shiny and absolutely loved the sound when I played it. There is one student in particular that had very little knowledge of what a flute is or how to even make a sound on it. I am very proud to say that she has excelled so much in a such little time and has already decided that she is going to a music high school. I am setting her up for a summer music camp and a borough-wide program on Saturdays. Having these flutes has helped give my students opportunities to be involved in something they enjoy. This student is not academically strong but has found a passion for music through the flute. Another student of mine participated in a middle school all-county festival and has been accepted to The Celia Cruz Bronx High School of Music. She has not only found her passion for music but playing the flute has allowed her to find a group of friends she feels at home with. Having these flutes has allowed me to give opportunities to my students they never imagined possible.
The next steps for my students is to have enough instruments for them to be able to take them home to practice. With a program of 240 students and only a third of the instruments, it is difficult for them to progress at an appropriate pace. With putting more projects for more instruments, I will reach this goal a lot faster enabling me to give the students an enriching music program. Thank you all so much for all you have done and helping me get closer to my goals.”
