When I differentiate my instruction I am able to provide more learning opportunities for my kindergarteners. After our whole group lesson my students are able to choose their next activity. If they are not working with me they are able to independently choose listening to reading, word work or reading to self. All students working at the same time can be loud, which makes listening to reading, difficult. Headphones are necessary so that they are able to hear their stories. Each child having their own headphones gives them ownership as well as makes transitions smooth so more learning can occur.
Choosing their stories is powerful and gives them ownership over their learning!
