Learning About Money
Funded Oct 10, 2023I cannot thank you enough for donating towards my Learning About Money DonorsChoose.org proposal. Through your kindness, my students have received much needed items. The money flash cards have been very helpful as the students are learning how to identify coins and their values. These flash cards are great for practicing counting money. Being able to add and subtract money will help my students to become better problem solvers and improve their financial literacy in the end.
The headphones have been very helpful as well. My students use programs called iReady Reading and iReady Math which deliver reading and math lessons on their individual levels. These lessons are very engaging and the students are making progress in all areas. The students are able to tune out what is going on within the rest of the room and can now focus on their individual activities. They are getting the instruction delivered right into their ears without their classmates hearing what is being assigned to them. This is great because no one knows what level others are working on. This decreases the chances of kids feeling they aren't as smart as others. All of the students are grateful for your generosity! Thank you for believing in the importance of education!”

Funded Nov 28, 2023My students and I would like to thank you for donating towards my Reading Made Fun Project. I was able to receive a $100 Teachers Pay Teachers gift card through this funding. Teachers Pay Teachers is an open online marketplace where teachers can purchase lesson plans and other course materials to use in the classroom. I have been able to purchase fun and engaging activities that the kids are able to do with some high-interest books I have in the classroom.
The kids just finished one of the activities the other day and they really enjoyed it. With these resources, I am able to differentiate my teaching which better meets the needs of all of my students.
My second graders will benefit from these activities now and for years to come by learning to be lifelong readers. Thank you for your support and for believing in the importance of education!”

Funded Aug 25, 2023My students were so excited when the boxes arrived. They were even more excited when they saw the Play-Dough, Kinetic Sand and the slime. They wanted to play with the items right away!
The Play-Dough gives my students the opportunity to use their imaginations and create whatever they want. They often like to show me the creations they make.
The Kinetic Sand has been a real hit with my students. They are able to pull it, shape it and mold it, to create incredible sand art.
My students also love to play with the slime. I believe these activities are benefiting my students both mentally and emotionally. Thank you for believing in the importance of exercising one's creativity.”

Funded May 1, 2023Thank you for your generous donation that enabled my students hands-on experiences as they learned about financial literacy. They really enjoyed the mock store situation in which they were able to earn fun prizes.
The students were given the opportunity to earn classroom cash throughout the week. On Fridays, they had to decide whether or not they wanted to spend or save their classroom cash. They had to keep up with their own balances in order to know how much they had to spend each week.
They were able to learn things such as wants/needs, scarcity, supply/demand, and spending/saving. My students also had the opportunity to learn about managing inventory, calculating costs, and determining prices.
Because of you, my students had real-life experiences running a business while they learned about financial literacy. Thank you for supporting education.”

Funded May 11, 2023Thank you for your generous donation towards my project. Because of your support, each of my students were given a set of addition flash cards. The children practice these facts with a partner several times a week. I have already seen improvement in their overall fact fluency.
In January, we will switch over to practicing the subtraction math facts. The addition flash cards will be sent home at that time for them to be practiced there. The subtraction flash cards will be sent home at the end of the year.
These flash cards are helping my students to become good mathematicians. Thank you for supporting education.

Funded May 9, 2023My students and I would like to thank you for helping to make this project come alive. They were really excited when I gave them their own copy of the National Geographic Readers: Caterpillar to Butterfly book. This book was very helpful in teaching the kids all about the butterfly life cycle, their metamorphosis, and migration. This book enabled my students to be engaged in the lesson as they learned all about butterflies.
The journals were also helpful by giving my students the opportunity to record and illustrate everything they learned out butterflies, their metamorphosis and migration. Your support is very much appreciated!”

Funded Dec 30, 2022Thank you for helping to fully fund my project. Through your generosity, I have been able to receive materials for two phonemic awareness programs. The Bridge the Gap program is a series of systematic phonemic awareness intervention lessons for students. These lessons are being used in small groups and with individual students who are struggling to decode words automatically.
The Heggerty Phonemic Awareness Curriculum contains 12 weeks of daily systematic phonemic awareness lessons. These lessons are short and engaging and help supplement my existing literacy instruction.
Thank you again for helping to fund these resources. My students are becoming phonemically proficient because of your help. Thank you for supporting education!”

Reduce Stress and Increase Learning
Funded Dec 27, 2022My students and I would like to thank you for helping to fully fund our DonorsChoose project. They were so excited to see the sketch books! They love to draw in their free time and now they have a book to keep all of their drawings in one place. Being able to draw helps the students use their imaginations as they create their own pictures.
They are also enjoying the activity books which provide them with word searches, math puzzles, mazes, etc. These activities not only give them something to do when they are done with their classwork, but they also help to stimulate their minds.
Thank you again for helping to give my students some options that not only help them stretch their minds and imaginations, but also help tap into their social and emotional learning. Your support is very much appreciated!”

Funded Dec 19, 2022My students and I would like to thank you again for donating towards this project. The children were so excited when I gave them the Kinetic Sand. They love creating and molding their own shapes and structures with it. With the magnetic sand the children can shape, mold and create. They really enjoy using the molds which help them to create even more different shapes.
They have also enjoyed playing with the slime, modeling clay and Play-Doh. They love when they are given the opportunity to use their imaginations in order to freely create new things.
The academic demands can cause extra stress to children's social and emotional learning. Being able to create with the Kinetic Sand has helped to relieve some of this stress. I believe this stress-reducing activity benefits my students both mentally and emotionally. In turn, this will have a direct impact on my students' success in school and life.
Your support is very much appreciated!”

Funded Nov 2, 2022Thank you for donating to help fully fund my DonorsChoose project for printer ink. In second grade, the children write and publish four writings throughout the school year.
These writings are narratives, a how-to, opinions and informational reports. The children work hard for several days on each piece of writing. Because of your donation we have printer ink, which has enabled me to print these stories, so they can be taken home and shared with parents.
My students get so excited when they see their writing pieces printed. They feel so proud when they get to take them home to show their parents their hard work. The parents love seeing the end product. This also helps to connect the parents to the classroom.
This would not have been able to happen without your support. Thank you again!”

Mrs. Bullard
