  • Energy to Overcome Obstacles

    Sometimes we forget that feeding the body is needed in addition to feeding the mind.

    Our students have so many struggles in their daily lives and being able to help them in a small way in their struggles was so amazing. Thus, being able to help them by offering nutritional snacks may be small but it is a heart-fill way to show that we care.

    My students were so excited to see the snack closet. They were so overwhelmed that "strangers" were willing to donate in order to make their life a little better. Since many of my students have lunch early around 11:00 A.M, they tend to be hungry in the afternoon. However, so many of them are unable to bring snacks.

    Thank you for enabling me to provide the snacks that made it possible for my students to go through a busy day. With your gift, you are making this world a little bit more joyful for our future generation.”

    It is with gratitude that I share with you the satisfaction I get for being able to help out my students in small ways. Many time, we are so busy in our pursuit for the bigger goals and dreams that we fail to see the little things that we can do to help our kids. For me, the act of being able to provide my students with nutritional snacks is a small but heart-fill way to show that we care.

    I still remember the joy, when my students first learn about my snack closet and how amazed they were that someone would be willing to donate in order to make their life a little better. For many of my students, they feel secured knowing that there is a place they can go to help fuel their body as they struggle through the turbulent teenage years.

  • Food to Feed the Mind

    Thank you for your gracious donations. My students were very happy to receive this gifts from you that enable them to satisfy their hunger while they develop their mind.

    For many of my students, lunch come early in the day around 11:00 A.M. As a result, by the end of the day, many of them are starving and can not continue without additional fuel. However, since most of them are not financially equipped to buy snacks, many of them lack the energy to actively participate in after-school activities that will enhance their lives.

    The ability for me to feed my students with the snacks from our generous donors have enabled many of my students to pursue interests in such activities as committing 2 hours after school to participating in the Robotics club. With a full stomach, many of my students are able to take advantage of the opportunities to work with college students to enhance their engineering skills, thereby giving them an advantage over their peers.

  • Empowering Students Through Arts via Coding

    Funded Mar 12, 2016

    Thank you for your generosity.

    As a teacher at a Title 1 school, funding are limited and is not always available for "nonessential" resources. As a result, arts may not always be accessible to all kids. With your donation, you help me bring arts to science class.

    For many of my kids, chemistry is a difficult and abstract subject that is hard to digest. By integrating arts into the learning of Chemistry, chemistry became accessible to more students. Students are able to use the computer to help them publish their works in an educational but fun manner. In addition, the students are acquiring new skills while having a chance to showcase what they have learned.

    Even though my students disliked the "extra works" initially, as the project went along, many of my students became excited about learning a new way to demonstrate what they have learned. The end result was an artistic sharing of what they have learned in the unit while having the artistic freedom to shine in front of their peers.

  • Flipped Learning

    Dear Donors:

    Your generosity has empowered my kids!

    I teach at a Title 1 school. My class includes students at many levels. Since not all students have the ability to process data at the same rate, some of my students are unable to keep pace with the class. In order to accommodate the different types and levels of learners, I have made videos of my lectures online.

    Unfortunately, not all of my students have been able to take advantage of the videos that are posted online. For many of my students, access to the Internet is normally limited to the time when they are at school or in a public venue, such as the library.

    However, with the flash drives, I am able to put a copy of the videos on the flash drives thereby removing the barrier of "no Internet" from the academic equation. With these flash drives, the students have access to the videos. With access to the videos, students are able to view and review the videos in the comfort of their homes at the pace that will enhance their learning.

    For some students, access to the videos is the difference between keeping pace with the class versus being lost in class. One time, I was not able to make the video available in the "usual" time. One student became worried and asked me when would he get access to the new video since the video help him review and learn the new concept being taught in class. Upon hearing this, I was so proud that I was able to provide my students with a tool that will help them become academic successful.

  • The Basics Matter

    Thank you for your kind donation. Your generous support of our classroom had made a difference in the everyday life of my students. My students were thankful for having these supplies made available to them. With these basic supplies, my students are armed with basic necessities that had facilitated the learning process. My students know that if they forget or do not have the necessary basic supplies, these supplies will be made available to them.

    On a daily basis, these basic supplies help keep my students be organized and prepared. The folders are utilized to store students' works and the writing implements are utilized to help my students takes notes, do projects and take assessments. With these supplies, my students' successes are no longer limited by lack of supplies or being disorganized.
