Carpeta EQUIPO
Funded May 8, 2019We can not thank you enough for your generous support! We use our Carpetas EVERYDAY between home and school. It is a great way to store our information without getting everything lost. We are teaching the students responsibility and to take ownership of their learning. I give them resources to keep in their Carpeta that they can use even without adult support at home. We could not provide this kind of support without your kind donations. Thank you for partnering with us to provide this needed resource for our students and families.”

Funded Jun 13, 2019Thank you so much for donating towards a new printer for our classroom. We use the printer every day for reading, writing, science, social studies, math and parent communication.
This makes helping 30 bilingual first graders so much easier so I can print the things that they need for their educational purposes.
As I do try to use less paper in the classroom, at times it is necessary to be able to print a whole class set of books in Spanish because they are hard to find in the correct level and language . Please know that you are helping children learn and we appreciate it so much .”

Funded Jan 4, 2019I cannot thank you enough for helping send me to this amazing Teacher Engagement Conference -- Get Your Teach On! I was able to attend and get re-inspired to help support student learning in my classroom.
The first evening, we were able to hear from motivational speaker Rachel Hollis. She inspired us to work hard and never give up. I was inspired to think how to use my time wisely to reach my goals with my students.
The next 3 days were filled with motivational teacher seminars and helpful Kindergarten/1st grade sessions where we were given countless ideas how to inspire greatness in our students and keep them engaged while learning content. One really fun idea for promoting language learning and conversation is using picture cards and headbands. You can see in one of the pictures that I had a picture card on my head. My teammates had to describe the items without using the word. I really liked this for my bilingual 1st graders because it is helping them to use synonyms and antonyms used in the target language - Spanish OR English.
Another inspirational seminar was from teacher artist Cassie Stephens - great ideas to use art and creativity in the classroom with various textures and supplies.
I could go on and on about what I learned, so please contact me if you want to hear more.”

Full STEAM Ahead!
Funded Aug 22, 2018This is such an exciting project! Our students will be able to explore how to create things and how they work. We are working on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics to help students expand their imagination.
We will be spreading these projects out throughout the year, but each student will be able to create and design an airplane, a boat and a race car. I know the students will love these projects and they will be a highlight to them throughout the school year!
Thank you for your support!”

Funded Aug 8, 2018We love our Carpeta Equipos! Thank you so much for your support! Carpeta means a notebook and our special notebook helps the students get and stay organized with all their papers and study guides. The parents really like it as well.
When I asked the students what they liked the best I had these answers: 1. The number sheets in the back that are 1-120 just like the standards for first grade. 2. The zipper pouch to put money for book orders or school lunch. 3. The double sided pocket chart for papers for home and papers to return. 4. The monthly reading calendar.
This project takes a lot of work to prepare and helps the students work on responsibility. We all appreciate your support in this project!”

Stand with First Grade Learning
Funded Aug 8, 2018Thank your for your support. We received our pocket chart stand and it is so useful. We have been working on letter sorts, syllable sorts, word sorts and will start word work with sentence frames and math number work soon. The students will be able to use words to for new sentences and create fun stories.
The chart is perfect size being just right for 1st graders to reach and the back side has a dry erase board that is magnetic for more learning fun!
Thank you for helping us get this new pocket chart holder that is in new and not falling apart like our last one.”

Spring into Spring
Funded Apr 11, 2018This was such an incredible experience for these first graders to learn about the life cycle of plants and animals. With this project, we were able to purchase live caterpillars and watch them transform into butterflies. We also planted some seeds and cared for the young plants and watched them grow into beautiful flowers. This really brought learning to life as they were able to experience this to the full extent.
Thank you for partnering with us and for making learning come alive to these first graders. We appreciate your support!”

What Is Black And White And Read All Over?
Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you for helping us with some of the basics for our classroom that we use EVERYDAY! Even though ink, paper and dry erase markers do not seem very exciting, they are totally useful. We use the printer paper and ink to print books to read, writing prompts, math help sheets, homework, science investigations and much more. We can only use so much from the school budget, so this project helps a lot to support learning in our classroom.
As we opened the box of new dry erase markers, the students reacted with excitement with all the fun colors of markers. Who knew that having a colored marker would help you solve your math problem better. It made a difference for them! Thank you for your generous support!”

Funded Jan 26, 2018Thank you for helping our class and providing math center games for our first graders. We have been enjoying the math games to compliment and support our unit standards and math lessons. We use a whole group instruction time for the main math lesson, then we use small groups to revisit the lesson in a fun math game or math practice. During the small group instruction time, the teacher can pull individual or small groups of students to work on individual needs. Having these math games, provides another way for the students to learn, practice and grow into the mathematicians they are meant to be. Thank you again for your support for their education.”

Funded Jan 26, 2018Thank you so much for partnering with us and funding this project. The Reading prizes arrived within days and we were ready to motivate these first graders to read 30 minutes a day. They were super excited to earn a ticket each day and win a prize. It kept them motivated during a usually slow and dreary month. I was able to see improvements with my students' reading levels as well! And what a lasting impression that will be for our first grade friends. Thank you again for helping motivate the students for their reading goals!”
