  • A Fresh Start To A New Year!

    Funded Nov 10, 2021

Thank you so much for your generosity! I have used the gift cards to Teachers Pay Teachers to purchase supplemental materials to go with our language arts and math units. I am so thankful for the support you offer my students by funding this project. Thank you for your constant interest in my student's education and well-being. Without your monetary support my students would not have the visuals and materials that are needed to succeed. The students have been excited to see our new materials, books, and other digital resources during math and language arts instruction. They are excited and engaged with the help of your generosity.

The materials that I can provide from your generous donations will make a difference in the learning of my students by providing them with the basics they need. Without the help of the donors from the Donor's Choose program this wouldn't be possible and I am eternally grateful!

1st graders are eager learners and need the visuals to go along with the curriculum. Having access to these digital resources will help them to better understand the topic we are learning about all while having fun and staying engaged. I know that my students will be excited when they receive these materials! Thanks again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Schreiber

  • Let's Get Comfortable!

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

Thank you so much for your generosity! I am so excited for my students to be able to use brand new chairs when we are able to come back to school! Our previous chairs were old and extremely heavy. Every time we had to put them on top of the desks for cleaning, I was always so nervous about them falling down and injuring a student. Now I don't have to worry about that anymore.

My students have not been able to see the chairs yet since we have been learning from home, but I know they will love them! I think they will absolutely love the colors and I also think they will love how light and easy they are to move around. The balls on the end of the legs will also keep it from being noisy, so there will be less distraction.

The next step for my students is to hopefully get back into the classroom after the new year so that we can continue our learning in person. They miss being in the classroom with their friends and I know that once we are able to come back in they will love every part of the classroom, including their new chairs. Thanks again!”

  • Successful Supplies!

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

Thank you so much for your generosity! I will be creating bags to send home to each student. In the pack, they will receive the crayons, dry erase markers, and earbuds. I have used the gift cards to Teachers Pay Teachers to purchase supplemental materials to go with our units. Working from home has been challenging for everyone, but my students have been trying their best these last few months.

I know that my students will be excited when they receive these materials. I have setup a distribution time and they will get these materials along with packets that I have created with the supplemental materials. Hands on learning is very important to me and the students will be able to continue doing that with these materials in hand.

Our next step is to use these new materials to help the students focus on their learning. New crayons are always exciting to use and the earbuds will help with any distractions. Many of my students have siblings at home that are also distant learning. These will eliminate the background noise to help maximize their learning experience. Your generous support will continue to help make distance learning easier for my students! Thanks again!”

  • Learning From Home!

    Funded Sep 6, 2020

Thank you so much for your generosity! I have created bags to send home to each student. In the pack, they will receive the dry erase boards, pencils, a spiral notebook, and a pair of scissors.

Our next step is to create science projects based around plant life. We will use the notebooks as an interactive journal and will cut and glue the materials into the notebook. Your generous support will continue to make distance learning a breeze for my students! Thanks again!”

  • Seeing Is Believing!

    Funded Aug 27, 2019

Thank you so much for your kind and generous donations to our classroom! The document camera has been a huge success! My students are able to see the work that I display much more clearly than before and it has also been a huge help with the students that sit towards the back of the room. They can see the work clearly and it has helped with their attention.

The document camera has been a fun addition to the class! My students absolutely love coming up to proudly display their work and it keeps their focus on an assignment much longer, because they know that they will have a chance to come up and present. I have 5 students with IEP's in my class. They are especially excited about this new technology, because it's easily accessible and it gives them a chance to show off and be proud of the work that they have done. It has also been a great incentive for those that take a little longer to get their work done. If they finish in a timely manner, then they get to come up to present. It has made a great impact on our day-to-day work and I'm so happy with the outcome! Thank you again from the bottom of my heart!”

  • Coming Into Focus

    Funded Aug 22, 2018

Our new projector has been life changing in our classroom! We use the projector a lot during class and with our old one, many of the students couldn't see because it wasn't focusing or wasn't bright enough. Now it's bright enough for everyone to see and I can keep the classroom lights on instead of off due to the brightness of the image!

I think what my students love the most about the projector is the chance for them to be able to show their work and do math games on it. I love to use technology in the classroom. It really motivates them and they have a great time with it. At the end of the day, we also do dancing exercises so they especially love it when we use the projector for that.

Now that they can see the board and images better, they want to participate during the lessons. They are more engaged and it allows them to show off their work to their peers. Thank you so much for your generous donation to our class! I know it will be enjoyed by many students for many years!”

  • No More Distractions!

    Funded Jan 22, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous donations! My students have thoroughly enjoyed having the new cart and it has become a wonderful addition to our classroom. Every morning they hang their backpack up and come into the classroom ready to learn. It has been so nice to not have to worry about tripping over the bags on the floor and the students aren't constantly going to their backpacks to try and clean them up. It has made a huge difference in the amount of distraction in the classroom!

When they first saw the cart, I think they were very surprised. Some of the other classes have a cart and they were always asking me why we didn't have one for our room. They immediately went right over to it and knew exactly what to do. Now it's part of our routine every morning and it makes the beginning of our day so much easier.

Again, thank you for your generosity and for taking the time to invest in my students. They really enjoy the new cart and I know it will be happily used for years to come!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Schreiber

  • Time For Kids to Read!

    Funded Aug 18, 2015

Your donation to our class has made a huge difference in the amount of reading that my students do. It's not always easy to teach material to a class that doesn't grab their attention. Having the Time For Kids magazine keeps their interest and they especially love all of the nonfiction material. For example, one of the magazines taught them about pandas in captivity, while another magazine gave information on Guatemala. They especially loved that one, because quite a few of them could relate to it since they have family that live there. Others were excited to read about it, because they were able to make connections to the other countries that their families are from.

Reading in my classroom starts with blending, phoneme segmentation, and phoneme substitution. We spend a good amount of time decoding words to help them become stronger readers. These are the foundational skills needed to read more rigorous text. We focus on reading a story for pleasure, but also dig deeper to understand the main idea and details, plot, and character analysis. We spend a lot time building fluency so that they can actually enjoy reading a story. It's very difficult to get children interested in reading if they're struggling to read the words. The magazines provide reading at their level and also include "power words" at the bottom to help with their understanding of difficult vocabulary.

I have found that the students that seem to enjoy the magazines the most are the ones that have an IEP and are pulled out for resource a few times a week. I think the nonfiction material keeps their interest longer and gives them more topics to talk about with their families and their peers. Overall, I feel that the whole class benefits from the magazine. They look forward to reading the new one every week, and that is something that is really important to me. Thanks again for taking the time to donate to our class. It means so much to them to know that there are people outside of the school that want them to enjoy reading and to succeed.”

    Mrs. Schreiber

  • Manipulatives Needed!

    Funded Nov 22, 2013

Thank you so much for the MakerBot! Your donation to our class meant the world to my students. They were so excited when I opened the box and saw the MakerBot. I set it up and the first thing we made was the shark. They loved it! Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and today we made the heart shaped box. That one was really exciting to watch, because it was much bigger for them to see. They also liked that it opened up into an actual box. In the future, we plan on making geometric shapes with it for math. We also have a unit coming up about plants. I want to try to make the different parts of a plant so that they have a better idea of each part. Unlike real plants, I will be able to use these over and over again for my new class every year.

Again, thank you so much for your generosity! This was an amazing gift to receive!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Schreiber
