  • Special Text Selections for Engaged Readers!

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

Thank you for fostering a love of reading for students in my classroom through funding this project! After being in the virtual classroom space all last year, my students did not have as much stamina with independent reading as classes of students in years past. When presented with that challenge, I remembered a key factor in independent reading: students will read more when they read what they love.

Thanks to your support, my students started doing exactly that: more reading! With these choice texts such as joke books, Captain Underpants series, and Christmas-themed stories, students fell back in love with reading and were occupied with good books for hours. This project even supported one of the biggest hits for station activities - a student joke-telling Flipgrid! Students read the texts from our classroom library in addition to researching some kid-friendly jokes online, and recorded awesome and hilarious videos for their classmates to explore.

Thank you for making reading come to life this year. These special text selections certainly made some engaged readers happy!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cosans

  • Stations, Thanks to TPT!

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Don't we all wish there were more hours in a day? Thanks to your generous support, I was better able to balance work and home life without sacrificing the quality of my lessons or student materials. TeachersPayTeachers is packed with engaging, SOL-aligned projects, assignments, and activities on a huge variety of topics.

With this gift card, I was able to purchase high quality learning resources for all of our main topics: for Reading, I purchased a graphic organizer to compare the story elements and character traits between Peter Pan the book and Peter Pan the movie; in Math, students all have a fraction names anchor chart in their Math notebooks, as well as a class colored anchor chart; in Social Studies, I was able to find a learning unit specifically on good citizenship and taking care of communities. These meaningful learning experiences were made possible by YOU, and my students and I are so grateful. I cannot thank you enough!”

  • Testing, Testing! Privacy Folders, Please!

    Funded Oct 29, 2021

These privacy shields have been an absolute life saver! My students greatly needed these shields to do their very best on our in-class assessments. Now, during quizzes, tests, and independent work time, I feel confident that students will do their very best because they have their own private work area!

In addition to these folders, the double-sided whiteboard has been so impactful during our small groups and intervention groups. I am able to model Math problems, spellings, and skills during our groups for all of the students to see without having to hold up an individual white board!

Thank you so much for your support in helping us to get these extremely important classroom materials! We appreciate your generosity greatly.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cosans

  • Keepin' It Creative!

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

We LOVE these materials! Thank you for being so generous and helping to provide us with so many amazing supplies.

We use all of these items weekly, if not daily, so I'll outline a few of my favorites! First, we use the dry erase lapboards, presentation clicker, magnetic storage boxes, and dry erasers every single day during both stations and whole group lessons. Showing work on whiteboards is so much more engaging for students! Thanks to the presentation clicker, I can be anywhere throughout the room and click through our daily lesson slides and problems to complete.

Two absolute fan favorites, though, are the motivational stickers and the tempera paints. As seen from the photos, the stickers make an amazing accessory to student water bottles! Students adore picking these out as a class reward. Additionally, my students ask me to paint every single time it rains outside and we have indoor recess! Third graders love the chance to be creative with their learning. Thank you so much for making that possible for us.”

  • Books for Empathetic Brains!

    Funded Aug 23, 2021

Thank you so much for contributing to books that cultivated so much empathy and great conversation between my third grade students! I love the beginning of a new school year for a variety of reasons, with one of them being that it's a fantastic chance to help students learn how to be caring, kind, and empathetic humans within a classroom.

These books did exactly that! One of our class favorites this year was "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?" because it literally teaches ways to be kind to one another and make each others' days brighter. We loved this book so much that one of our classroom rules is, "Always be a bucket filler!"

Thank you so much for giving us opportunities to connect and see each others' humanity through these text selections. We are so appreciative.”

  • Starting With Success: Classroom Basics!

    Funded Aug 10, 2021

Especially this school year, I knew that classroom basics would be a number 1 priority. Coming back into the school building in-person for the first time in a year and a half meant a LOT would be needed; when the schools shut down in March of 2020, close to 100% of my stored classroom supplies went home to students and families to make sure each home had coloring utensils, pencils, paper, hand sanitizer and more.

Thanks to your generous funding of this project, we were extremely well-equipped with everything we would need to be successful in our classroom! Now we have fresh dry erase clipboards to sound out words for our phonics program and draw arrays to solve multiplication problems. We have a stockpile of pencils, Lysol wipes, Ziploc bags, and hand sanitizer, things that are ALWAYS in high-demand in classrooms! Thanks to your funding of this project, we also now have an amazing collection of "Who Would Win?" books as well as one of my favorite classroom conversation starter books, "That Rule Doesn't Apply to Me." Thanks to your generosity, we had everything we need to start off the school year - and that means the world! We so appreciate your help to fund this project. You're the best!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cosans

  • Warm and Full = Ready to Learn!

    Funded Feb 9, 2021

Your support to this project made it possible for me to support my students' basic needs, even while teaching virtually! With your help, 29 fourth grade students were able to receive a winter beanie, a scarf, gloves, and snacks such as fruit snacks, granola bars, chips, and cookies.

My teammates and I spent an afternoon carefully selecting items that we knew each student would enjoy, even taking requests for their favorite chips and colors! We then did individual porch visits where, safely distanced, we delivered the items and were able to touch base with every fourth grader in-person. It was such a special and needed experience during such a challenging year of virtual learning.

As you know, school is so much more than just a place for students to learn; it can be a place where some students receive the only extra gloves, hats, scarves, and yummy snacks that they will get. With your help, every student received those basic items. I am forever grateful for your support and caring about my students!”

  • Treats to De-Stress After the Test!

    Funded May 8, 2021

I think we can all agree - testing is such a stressor for people of all ages. Last year was even more difficult with all of the testing being one of the only times students stepped foot in-person to a school building! With your help, students were given a chance to celebrate all of their hard work and feel special with hand-picked treats to fill care packages.

My teammates and I spent time carefully setting up outside tables one June afternoon with Starbursts, spicy chips (a class favorite), Oreos, Cheez-Its, granola bars, juice pouches, Goldfish, Sour Patch Kids, and more! Students and their families arrived and we got to give masked, in-person compliments to each student for their hard work during testing season and throughout the whole challenging virtual year. The looks of pure joy on students' faces when they saw all of the generous donations was such a sight to see! Each student was able to "shop" the tables, picking out their favorite treats to fill their bags.

Thank you so much for helping to making these treat packages so special for my students. Testing season was a time they certainly won't forget - not because of the stress this time, but because of the awesome treats they worked so hard to earn!”

  • Let's Keep The Learning Rolling! Pt. 2

    Funded Feb 10, 2021

This school year was made much more enjoyable because of YOU! It was very daunting to wrap my head around making lessons/class activities/homework/student practice/assessments 100% virtual while also being cognizant of the need for enjoyment, engagement, and FUN of elementary learning! Having this TeachersPayTeachers digital gift card allowed me to enjoy teaching and be there for my students during this extremely difficult year - without the stress and late hours of creating entirely new resources on my own.

Having this gift card allowed me to purchase engaging, interactive, and Virginia SOL-aligned resources for my students to use. They were completely ready to go! One of my favorite activities purchased with this gift card was a resource titled, "Equivalent Fractions and Decimals Sorting Activity." After an engaging and interactive Nearpod about decimal and fraction equivalents through which students shaded in hundreds-grid digital manipulatives to show the relationships (ex. 1/4 = 25/100 = .25), this sort served as a formative assessment. On the Google Slides, students looked at the grids, interpreted the portion shaded, and physically dragged with their mouse the corresponding fraction and/or decimal for each! Even though this is a challenging Math standard, students were able to physically count, drag, and interact with these manipulatives digitally. None of this would have been made possible without your generosity!

This TeachersPayTeachers gift card was immensely helpful in preparing and teaching lessons this school year. My students and I appreciate your generosity more than you know!! THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cosans

  • Let's Keep the Learning Rolling!

    Funded Dec 27, 2020

This school year was quite the challenge! Not only was virtual school a new hurdle for students, it also meant that teachers like myself were thrown for a loop with not being able to reuse classic classroom lessons; lessons that involve hands-on materials are more engaging for students, and that was not possible while learning through a computer screen!

Having a TeachersPayTeachers digital gift card meant recreating classic lessons in a way that, while still virtual, provided engaging and interactive learning pathways. One of my favorite activities purchased with this gift card was a Virginia Studies Digital Flip Books Bundle - The Virginia Colony bundle. As we completed Nearpods and other digital lessons, students completed virtual flipbook pages as formative assessments. Money Vocabulary, Everyday Colonial Life, Using Resources in the Colony, and Colonial Virginia Culture were all flipbook page titles and topics. Students enjoyed completing snippets of this flipbook at the end of class and celebrated when they knew the answers! This well-made flipbook also served as a great study tool once students were finished.

This TeachersPayTeachers gift card was immensely helpful in preparing and teaching lessons this school year. My students and I appreciate your generosity more than you know!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cosans

These classroom supplies, including a meeting area rug, classroom library books, pencils, and dry erase boards will help provide students with necessary materials to learn and grow this school year. A new classroom rug will foster a comfortable and inclusive space where students can gather for mini-lessons and to enjoy our new classroom books. Organizational tools included in this project, such as pocket charts and a wall folder organizer, will eliminate the need for bulky organization on surfaces and allow information to be displayed on the walls that will keep my fourth graders, school personnel, and students' families aware of what is going on in our classroom. With these materials, we can jump right into meaningful learning instead of scrambling for basic supplies. Students need tools to learn. Our classroom being well-equipped with learning materials will allow my class to do just that - learn! These materials will be readily accessible for my students to use to make their fourth grade year meaningful.
