My students are growing as independent readers who love to read. In my classroom, I want to offer books that not only teach SOL standards but also spark my students' interest. Offering a diverse library in our classroom encourages reading for learning as well as reading for pleasure. The books selected for this project will allow all of this to happen! Offering additional flexible seating options and engaging books will promote pleasure reading and student engagement during lessons. Having this project funded would offer our students lifted tables with the bed risers, which would best serve students who learn better standing. This project also includes a fun high-top table with stools in which I will create an area for reading. I will create a reading corner with the rainbow room dividers that will offer students floor seating options. Our books will serve multiple purposes in our classroom as I have selected books that align with SOL standards as well as books my students have expressed interest in. I have also asked for 2 wireless microphones as we are adding a stage to our classroom next year and the use of microphones will help with public speaking practice. My students deserve an atmosphere that meets their needs on multiple levels and the supplies for this project will allow that to be a reality.
