  • Paper Storage Bins

    Funded Dec 19, 2022

My lead teacher and I can't wait to get even more organized. This will definitely help us centralize our ideas, projects and lesson plans. We already had one bin o this fashion but it was broken and stuffed to the brim. Having multiple is such a blessing. Thank you so very much.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lewis

  • Supply Organization

    Funded Feb 9, 2022

Thank you so much for funding this project. We were able to have our class super organized for the end of the year. Everything was beautifully put into a new place and labels correctly and neatly. This further allowed us to set up our Pre-K classroom faster than ever this September. We were able to again label the cots, but also quickly label the cubbies, rug spots, table spots, and everything else.

Our classroom looks much more spacious and open. As our new students and families walked in, we could see how much they loved the space. They could clearly see where to put their bookbags, what table to sit at, etc.

Again thank you. We love our supplies and organization.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lewis

  • Chromebook for Teaching Assistant

    Funded Jan 31, 2022

To be honest, this Chromebook has done more for our classroom than even planned. It was useful in my weekly emails to parents. It helped me to create a wish-list on Amazon to correlate with our themes. I created flyers on Canva for our special days at the end of the year.

Most importantly, this computer allowed me to help set up our virtual classroom when I tested positive for the corona virus. I was able to come up with a timetable, create a zoom link, and send this out for my co-teacher to be well prepared in my absence. This was truly a life saver in this event.

So from my classroom family to you: Thank you so very much!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lewis

  • Imagine This: 3 Pre-K Students Putting on a Puppet Show

    Funded May 6, 2020

This puppet set has been a hit in dramatic play this year. The children were so excited to play with it. They are also really adamant about putting the puppets in their correct letter bins.

They love making connections between the animals and characters and the letters on their fronts. "Hey ballerina starts with B; buh buh ballerina!" "Jaguar starts with J; heyyyyy we are the jaguars."

In after school, we will begin using it on our letter focus activities. The characters will start reading stories to the Pre-K and Kindergarten groups.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lewis

Primarily these will be used for my early childhood group learning Theatre Arts. These 3-6 year olds in Harlem will be learning to express themselves through performing arts. Puppets allow students to admit to feelings that they may hide otherwise. They allow people (even little ones) to try things that ordinarily they would be scared. While there are many ways to puppets in Theatre Arts, they can be used for other activities as well including meditation. Breathing Buddies is a system where young people lay down with a Stuffed animal or plushie of any sort on their chest and just watch it as they breathe. This allows them to focus on and control their breathing. That is a valuable skill in many situations where they may have an elevated heart rate (arguments, not getting their way, being flustered, etc.). I know this would be an asset for my programs and the children would be immensely appreciative. They love to express themselves creatively. One of my girls said she would use puppets to make someone feel happy. Another student said he would enjoy playing with them. Please help us out!
