Anatomical Models for Anatomy Students!

This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom.  The anatomical models arrived just in time for the start of the school year and their use has most certainly helped my students.  Being able to point out structures on 3D models as opposed to just flat images has allowed my students to truly conceptualize how structure fits function. 
Our school is a Title I school with over 80% of our students classifying as economically disadvantaged.  Although I cannot account for their lives outside of my classroom, I take comfort in knowing that I do my best to provide them with the best possible instruction while they are with me.  The anatomical models have been a large part of this instruction and they truly appreciate using them.

My students are dedicated juniors at a high needs school in the inner city. They work hard to complete a full academic load as well as a Vocational Track in Nursing or Health Technologies. Despite being faced with hardships of their own (poverty, broken families, and language barriers), they yearn to help others and are exploring careers as doctors, nurses, and EMTs. Their dedication is apparent, as many already work within internships to gain experience in these areas. Many also participate in HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) to raise health awareness in the community. They work tirelessly, promoting issues like organ donation, blood donation, and proper nutrition. This past year they came to school early for weeks to cut fruit to be sold as a fundraiser. Having fresh fruit for students in an area surrounded by only chips and candy was inspiring. They used the money they raised to compete against other HOSA students in Florida. I am so proud of their accomplishments.
