Organization is KEY!

Funded Aug 19, 2017

With the help of your generosity my fifth graders have been able to take that all important first step in truly understanding what it means to be organized and responsible for their own spaces. Instead of starting the class on a negative note due to a forgotten notebook or math journal, the students now have a shared tidy space to call their own.

Transitioning into middle school is tricky enough! Adding multiple books to keep track of, shared lockers, and a new schedule to memorize can be daunting. My two math classes have a variety of journals and notebooks and it is not always easy grabbing the correct book while twenty-one other students are attempting to position themselves to be the first at their locker. Our new organizer bins have given my students piece of mind because they now know that all of their materials are waiting for them inside of the classroom. My students are no longer anxious and flustered while trying to assemble themselves in order to arrive at class prepared and on time.

We have been successfully able to utilize and sort these organizers by homeroom. Each of my two classes knows that specific books go in certain drawers. They have proven to be a huge time saver because now one student from each group can quickly go to the bins and retrieve their group's necessary materials for the class period. There is no longer confusion or time wasted because students are wandering around the room looking for a missing resource. These bins have actually provided me the opportunity to engage in more active learning because everything the students need is in one spot.

You have made such a positive impact on the lives of my students. I cannot thank you enough for your thoughtful donations.”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Solomon
