We're Rockin' in our School Shoes is one of the many songs you will hear when you walk into my classroom. My students love to sing and read about Pete the Cat and Dr. Seuss. All of my bilingual students are considered to be high risk. They live in a low income community where both parents have to work to be able to provide for them. They were also affected by hurricane Harvey so the parents priority is not to buy books or toys, it's being able to provide a home and food. Even with all the challenges my students come to school excited and eager to learn. My classroom has become an escape to the realities that they have to face at home.
