Happy New Year Refresh!
Funded Jan 21, 2025Thank you for your generous support of my classroom and students. I know my students will be so excited to see the supplies come in. You do not know how much it means to me to have your support for my classroom needs. Thank you for all you have done”

Reading About the World and Science!
Funded Aug 3, 2024The Scholastic Magazines bring my students topics from all around the world. This gives the students an opportunity to get a brief glimpse into different areas, topics, ideas, and communities and spark an interest for them to learn more. These magazines are colorful, have online options, full of information, and fun for the students. The online option allows the magazines to be read to them if needed, extra videos about the topics, vocabulary descriptions, and fun games.
Thank you for supporting my classroom and students. They are so excited when we open a new magazine and I always get a kick out of how quickly they get quiet and ready to learn with them. Your support has brought my students another opportunity to learn about new topics, science, Math, and about our world.
I appreciate your generosity and cannot thank you enough for all the support you show us.”

Comfy Listening Center
Funded Sep 24, 2024My students absolutely loved the materials for our Comfy Listening Center. The cute rug brought some color into the room as well as a softer spot to sit and read on and then we also were able to get little cushions that they can move around the room to sit on. The listening center boombox has been a hit and they love to hear the stories being read to them.
Thank you for your generous donations that made this all possible. It brings me so much joy to see them excited to either listen to a story with the boombox or to chose a book and find a comfy spot to read to themselves or even to a partner. Thank you so much for having such a caring heart to help the students of my classroom.”

Funded Aug 9, 2022The Scholastic Magazines are a favorite of my students. They are colorful and fun, they especially love the digital version where we are able to learn even more about a topic. These Scholastic Magazines help expose my students to topics they are unfamiliar with, it is great exposure and a way for them to connect to the world around them.
Thank you so much for providing my first grade students with these magazines. I love seeing the excitement on their faces when they learn something new, answer the comprehension or graphing questions on the back correctly, and hearing the questions and conversations the topics generate. I can think of two in particular that sparked a great conversation: one was the April issue-I am proud to be different, with this issue the students discussed ways to be kind to others that may look or act differently than them. I heard ways to be kind and helpful. Another was the March issue-Alma's World, it was about an African American Artist named Alma Thomas and her love of colors in the world. My students were amazed at her paintings and use of colors, they also were interested in her as an African American as they could personally relate to her.
Again, I want to say the impact of these magazines on my 1st grade students is substantial. Exposing them to topics around the world, diversity, and science. These magazines help develop their world knowledge, thank you.”

Funded Jul 15, 2021My students were so excited when they saw the first Scholastic News Magazine and Science edition. The bright, colorful magazines were something they had never seen before, and it piqued their interest.
These magazines have brought them information about new topics and themes, and they love when a new one comes. Each magazine is in color with bright interesting photos. My students have enjoyed listening and reading about the topics and then answering the questions at the end.
I personally cannot thank you enough for helping us get these Scholastic News and Science Magazines into our classroom. I love the content of each magazine and being able to expose my students to new and interesting topics. Your generosity has helped me enrich my student's learning and I am so grateful to you.
Thank you again from Ms. Herring's first grade class.”

Hearing is Everything!
Funded May 5, 2021Your generosity helped me purchase new headphones for each of my students. Today, with Covid still having an impact on what we do in the schools, this purchase has helped us tremendously. Now, we don not have to share the headphones.
It is so nice to have the students working on assignments during our computer time and be able to hear. Before this purchase, we would hear every student's computer all talking at the same time about different things. Now, each student can hear only their computer program and can really focus on what they are doing.
I have already noticed the changes in my student's ability to recognize letter sounds and that is in part because of you. Thank you again for helping me achieve this goal for my students. The excitement on their faces when they knew they each had their own headphones was priceless.”

Funded Jul 19, 2020I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your generosity and support. You have no idea how much this means to myself, but more importantly my students.
The supplies we have received will get help get us through a good portion of the year. Although my students are virtual learning right now, we do plan on a return to campus in January and having the materials they will need will bring instant smiles to their faces.
I was able to send some supplies home already to assist them in their virtual learning. The children received pencils, erasers, and some crayons to give them materials to write and draw with as we are learning virtually.
As they return in January, they will have ready for them: folders, crayons, dry erase markers, pencils, scissors, and glue sticks. Every one of these supplies will be theirs to keep (sharing will not be an option due to COVID-19 19) and we will be able to participate in active learning and engagement.
Thank you again for your support and overwhelming kind nature.”

Funded Oct 24, 2019My students were so excited when the box came in. They helped me open it and saw it was full of school supplies they so desperately needed. It truly was like Christmas or a birthday for them and they loved everything it contained.
We opened each piece slowly and I heard a lot of excitement in their voices as they saw each item in the box. The supplies you so generously gave us included pencil bags, crayons, glue sticks, scissors, erasers, and composition notebooks.
My students are using the pencil bags to hold their pencils, new crayons, glue sticks, and the erasers. We use these items daily in our first-grade classroom. We do a lot of cut and paste activities, so those glue sticks and scissors have been a tremendous help. Also, as first graders we make a lot of mistakes, so those erasers have been a lifesaver. The composition notebooks are being used as writing journals and we are trying to write everyday about a topic.
I personally cannot thank you enough for helping us get these new supplies. You have helped save my wallet some and more importantly helped my students to see that others can be generous, too. By the way, that is a word we have been working on this week and we used the example of our donors as an explanation of being generous.
Thank you again from Ms. Herring's first grade class.”

Funded Feb 13, 2019WOW! The addition of the Hot Dots Learning activities have made such a difference with my students. We are using them in centers, small groups, and as intervention activities. The students can't wait for their turn to use all the new materials in math and reading.
My students were so excited when the big box came in and as we pulled out all the individual items they couldn't wait to find out what it was. When the first groups of students were using the materials in centers, the other students kept looking over to see what was going on and waiting for that bell to ring so they would get their chance.
We will continue to use these Hot Dots in centers and intervention times to help my students practice skills they are struggling with. They are having a blast and love when the Hot Dots pen signals that they got a correct answer. The introduction of these items have already made a difference with some of my quieter, uncertain students; I have seen them light up when it signals they got an answer right and also witnessed their determination if they were wrong.
Thank you again for helping my students see that they can learn while having fun. I love that they are learning that it is okay to be wrong and trying again can pay off. Your generosity has given me so much joy.”

Chromebooks for Success!
Funded Sep 19, 2018Since your wonderful donation, we have been busy practicing our phonics and reading skills. With the addition of our Chromebooks, my students have been able to work on skills in reading and phonics that they need to continue to grow as young readers. Every day, I am now able to have a small group of students logging onto learning sites and to participate in Accelerated Reading that allows them to document their comprehension skills and earn points for correct answers.
My students love the new computer area and can't wait for their turn to practice their skills and show off their new knowledge. As their teacher, I am excited to see the reports that are generated showing me how this technology is helping them with skills or strategies they are struggling with.
This addition in Chromebooks has really been beneficial to the students who were lacking confidence in themselves and their reading ability. These students can be seen smiling as they are on the Chromebooks and even when they are reading directly with me. I have seen and heard growth in their reading abilities already and we have only had the Chromebooks for a few months, I can't wait to see the positive results as this year progresses.
Your generosity and caring nature has made an impact on my students and I am so grateful for you.”
