I teach 5th grade in a Title 1 School. My classroom is a wonderful mixture of 18 kids, many who are English Language Learners or students with special needs. They all love to read and are currently in a race to see who completes the 40 Book Challenge first! The class really enjoys group work. They have built towers, made paper helicopters, identified the effect of force on water bottle flipping, and done research to help them complete posters about Chile. Hands-on activities are especially important for them to make our curriculum more concrete.
