These math manipulatives (Cuisenaire Rods) are useful in helping students think about abstract concepts in a more concrete way. The way that the progression of math learning takes place means that students have to understand things in a concrete way before they can understand them in an abstract way. These manipulatives provide a way for the students to compare fractions, gain number literacy, and can help students gain a deeper understanding of a variety of other math skills. These Cuisenaire Rods will also help my students be more engaged while they are working and make a true difference in the way they work!
