Inclusive Classroom Resources and Lessons
Funded Dec 22, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donations to help us reach our goal! We are excited to use the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card to buy resources for our first graders throughout the school year. As educators we acknowledge it is our duty to ensure our students are exposed to inclusive and accepting resources and lessons. We are committed to making positive changes. We know and love that our students (and their families) trust us to teach them, lead by example, and listen to their needs as learners and young members of our community. We pledge to use our educational platform (our classroom), to actively pursue change, and to work tirelessly to create a positive and inclusive mindset for our young learners.
Thanks to you all, we were able to purchase new activities and lessons to expand our classroom resources that provide windows and mirrors for our students to feel seen and heard. They also provide opportunities for students to access the curriculum at their personal entry point to ensure success. Having resources available in our classroom is vital to promoting a safe and supportive learning environment for our students. With these new resources we will help our students open their minds and their hearts to the identities, experiences, cultures, and beliefs of people not like them. They will encourage rich discussions about diversity, kindness, and inclusion.”
With gratitude,

Diversity and Inclusiveness are Vital in Children's Literature!
Funded Jun 15, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donations to help us reach our goal! We are so excited to introduce these texts to our first graders throughout the school year. As educators we acknowledge it is our duty to ensure our students are educated about the history of race, and systemic injustices. We believe that silence perpetuates this very real problem and we are committed to making positive changes. We know and love that our students (and their families) trust us to teach them, lead by example, and listen to their needs as learners and young members of our community. We pledge to use our educational platform (our classroom), to actively pursue change and to work tirelessly to create a positive and inclusive mindset for our young learners.
Thanks to you all, we were able to expand our classroom library to include a variety of books that provide windows and mirrors for our students to feel seen and provide opportunities for students to "meet" people unlike themselves. Having books that teach these topics available in our classroom is vital to promoting a safe and supportive learning environment for our students.
All of our students are enjoying watching us read our new books through our Zoom meetings and in-person. They love seeing book characters that look like them! Our new books are also helping us lead rich discussions about diversity, kindness, and inclusion. We are encouraging our students to have open minds and hearts to the identities, experiences, cultures, and beliefs of people not like them.”
