Most of my students come from underprivileged families. Many are on free and reduced lunch. For some of them, the meals they receive at school are the only meals they receive all day. Yet, in spite of this, they are a lively bunch and hungry for knowledge. I teach using primarily the inquiry method, which means I do not give out answers or lecture, instead I propose questions and problems and the students must seek out the answers. I guide them in the correct direction, and sometimes they do fail. But they pick themselves up and begin looking again. While this does take longer than "traditional" teaching, it also teaches them to think for themselves. Our budget is very limited, as it is everywhere, and we would greatly appreciate any donations to help the students achieve their quest for knowledge. Thank you in advance!
