    Thank you so much for the donation. My kids love the blue chairs and foam. We play with the foam and letter in fun Friday. The kids sit in the chairs all day long. I use the letters to help with my struggling readers. It is nice to have tactile letters for the kids to use and touch. The foam helps us with our fine motor skills. Since the pandemic hit kids have less and less fine motor skills and all of the kids have really lacked in that area. It was nice to give them a chance to catch up in a safe place to learn and grow.”

  • Books for Distance Learning

    Thank you so much for your donation! Since I have received the books we have been reading many fiction and non fiction books. My class is also exposed to actual books instead of videos of the books. Since we are still virtual learning I wanted to still have the kids see me read actual books. This donors choose project gave me the ability to still do that. I cannot wait to be back in the classroom showing the kids and letting them read them. This project has given me a chance to properly teach my kindergarteners virtual and in person!”

    This classroom project was brought to life by Someone Who Loves Southern Nevada Students and one other donor.
Next year, I will be teaching Kindergarten again. I am excited to use the KinderLiteracy Curriculum, KinderMath Curriculum, and KinderWriting Curriculum by Tara West (a Teachers Pay Teachers seller) as my adopted curriculum. The KinderLiteracy units are based upon the close read model with a supporting text. Each unit of KinderLiteracy focuses on a different theme (e.g. sharing, animals, weather, etc). My students need books like National Geographic Readers, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Rainbow Fish and many other books use with the Tara West curriculum. Each week we focus on one mentor text, and each day we look closely at that text. The themed mentor texts focus on different reading strategies and skills including Listening & Learning, Listening & Discovering, and Listening & Annotating. I would really love to have a physical copy of these books to read with my students! This project covers almost an entire year of mentor text read alouds for writing, math and literacy. I am requesting a broad range of literature titles to support our program.
