  • Headphones For My Students

    Funded Nov 18, 2020

    Thank you so much for the class set of headphones! It means that we can use our iPads at school without having 12 different iPads going at the same time distracting the other students. This way they can concentrate on what they are doing on their own iPad!

    My students readily put the headphones on when it is their turn to work on their iPad. We disinfect them between each use (as we have 2 classes that use them).

    The headphones are holding up great to 24 different pre-K students using them each day we are in class!

  • Cozy, Comfy Couch!

    My students absolutely love the cozy couch! They sit on the couch together, talk with each other and play with each other. I love watching them utilize the couch in our dramatic play center. They sit on the couch and "watch tv" or "take a nap" or "talk on the phone".

    This couch is versatile that I can use it in our dramatic play area or in our reading center. I think our students will use it in both areas. I also love that it cleans up so easily, just spray and wipe!

  • New Sensory Table for Pre-K

    Funded Sep 7, 2019

    Thank you so much for your generous donations! My students love their new sensory table (currently being used with sand). They love to explore the sand and use the materials in the sand table. We plan on using a variety of sensory materials inside the table, such as water and seasonal materials (like leaves, snow, etc).

    My students have been utilizing this every day since we received the table! They enjoy manipulating the sand with their hands, feeling the different textures (if it is wet or dry) and using the different containers to move the sand around the sensory table!

  • We Need a Pre-K Playground!

    We actually have not been able to use the new equipment yet because we have been waiting to get an area of the current playground fenced in so that pre-k students could have their own separate space. The new equipment has been in storage, but today they started drilling holes for the fencing and our principal just told us that he was able to secure turf for the area! I'm so excited that our pre-k students will have age appropriate equipment to play on soon!!! We are looking forward to getting the new equipment out there!”

  • New Carpets for Our Pre-K Class

    Funded Apr 10, 2018

    The new carpets for our classroom have been a huge hit! The students were so excited to have a comfortable place to sit and read and a cozy carpet for their dramatic play area. The first time they saw the carpets, a few students said "Let's write letters in them like the other carpet!". A small group practiced writing letters using their fingers to make letters in the carpet fibers for a while. It's great to see what an impact the 2 carpets can do in our pre-k room!

    The carpet that we are using in our dramatic play area is a beautiful dark green. It makes sitting on the floor for baby doll picnics so much more comfortable! The carpet in our reading area is a dark purple and also so comfortable. The kids have been enjoying sitting on it and reading books so much!

    I love the colors of the carpet and how they look in our room; so much nicer than the tile floor! Thank you so much for your support with this project!”

  • New Comfy Carpet For Pre-k!

    Funded Apr 7, 2018

    We received our new comfy carpet Friday afternoon. It looks and feels amazing! I'm super excited for our students to be able to use it when building with blocks and playing with our science materials. I know that my students will be as excited as I was when I first saw it.

    We are using the carpet in our block center because we spend all of our time in that area on the floor. It will be fantastic to have such a comfortable place to build with blocks and play with our science materials!

    My students saw the carpet for the first time today. They were so excited! Like I expected, they all were rubbing their hands on the carpet, rolling on it, a few even discovered that they could write letters and shapes in the carpet, then smooth them away!

  • Creative Pre-K Class Needs Art Supplies

    Funded May 21, 2010

    Our Pre-K class would like to thank you for your donation! It was truly like Christmas for us as we opened up the packages! The students all asked what was in those boxes?! Our principal was amazed that we were able to get so many things for our classroom and was curious how we were able to do so. In our district, pre-K funding is different than school age, so many materials that school age receives, pre-K does not.

    We have been using the materials - paint (such vibrant colors!) to paint life size bodies and scissors (the loop scissors are very helpful for our students who have not quite learned how to hold scissors correctly or who do not have the fine motor skills to manipulate regular scissors). The children love having the variety of color paper to choose from instead of the brown, black and dark green paper that we had! Our children ask to paint everyday, so we try have a variety of paint available to them at the easel or tables so that they can explore either using their hands or paint brushes. We have plans for the googly eyes and the gems for future projects.
