  • Speech-to-Text Writing Tools Noise-Canceling Headphones Will Do the Trick

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

Having our own set of headphones allows the students to utilize the speech-to-text option on their Chromebooks daily. They are comfortable for them to wear and work well. My learning disabled students have been able to create daily journals that would normally be a burden to them due to spelling issues and physical obstacles. Their wonderful ideas and use of more complex vocabulary with the ability to speak instead of type does wonders for their work samples. It is because of your kindness and generosity that this is possible. We all greatly appreciate this and thank you very much.”

  • Calm, Cool, and Collected- Middle School Calming Corner

    Funded May 5, 2023

My calming corner has been such a great addition to my classroom. I wasn't sure how to incorporate it or even introduce it to my students. But, it is working perfectly. My students use it for different reasons- space to sit quietly during class, when frustrated or upset, or to read, if no other students are using it. The gel pads and water timers are accessed daily and help students calm. The white noise machine helps with eliminating background noise to give the space a quieter atmosphere. It is because of you that I was able to provide this option for my students. I appreciate your generosity and thoughtful, kind gesture when donating to my project. My class is more complete now. Thank you.”

  • The Making of a Middle School Math Magician

    Funded May 13, 2023

Having these math materials to start the school year has made for a smooth transition. It is so easy to access the number lines and calculators in the classroom. I created a wonderful word wall for math using the lamination pages. It makes the classroom so interactive. My students appreciate having these manipulatives and visuals in the room to access to assist them in learning grade-level math concepts. They struggle with some basic math and these items are sometimes necessary for them to accurately complete their work. It makes them have more confidence. It makes me happy and proud. We all appreciate your kindness and generosity. Thank you so very much.”

  • Back to School Classroom Essentials

    Funded Jun 24, 2023

It was great to start the year with all the essentials for my classroom. I was able to make my classroom welcoming to my new students. It was easy to clean and organize with the wonderful supplies I received. The students were happy to have boxes of tissues and strong, sturdy paper towels to use when water was spilled.

My students use the notebooks on a daily basis to complete their starter and exit tickets for both my English and mathematics classes. Each of my stations has a set of colored pencils that they use for interactive notes and foldables.

Having so much to offer them made the beginning of the year go smoothly for me, as their teacher, and for them, my students.

I greatly appreciate your generosity. I take time to remind my students that there are kind, giving people in the world who care about them and their education.

Thank you from the bottom to the top of my heart.”

  • Technology Station-Easy Access to All!

    Funded Sep 7, 2022

I cannot thank you enough for your generosity. These Chromebooks have already been used to complete group projects, station work, assist in standardized online testing, and for students to complete independent assignments. The students show added responsibility when using them because they are aware of where they came from. They keep them clean, turn on and off correctly, and return them to the charging stations without prompting. Having these for our students allows the team to provide technology, especially to those who are eager to learn.”

  • "MAC"nificent Remote Teaching

    Funded May 5, 2021

With remote, hybrid, and returning to in-person learning, having my MacBook has been an unmeasurable asset. I am able to access information in a quick manner. It is easier to manage and use in the classroom. I was fortunate to have this tool to work in conjunction with my school-issued Chromebook to provide multi-screen learning when in remote learning situation. It eliminated time-management issues, stress caused from lagging sites, videos, etc. My students noticed a big change once my MacBook was introduced. This gift is much appreciated and will be used on a daily basis even with in-person learning.”

  • Virtual Learning "LIVE" and In-Person

    Funded Sep 9, 2020

I cannot begin to tell you how having a document camera has helped with teaching my students. They are able to see things more clearly and up-close (I can zoom in). I don't have to hold items up to the screen anymore. It creates ease and time saving during every activity during a class period. I utilize the the transparencies and markers to model correct phrasing of sentences, identify concepts students are learning within the words, and reinforce previously taught syllable patterns, all using my materials you so generously donated. Teaching remotely is a challenge but with all I have been given, I am able to assist my students in a way that is close to what they would see in the actual classroom. Thank you all so much. It has been a game changer!”

  • Specialized Reading Instruction for Special Kids

    Funded Aug 28, 2020

I cannot believe how much help the white board, markers and pocket chart have made teaching remotely easier and more fun. These materials allow me to teach my students as if we were in the classroom together. Students and staff have commented on how my space at home looks like a duplicate of my classroom at school. That makes me feel wonderful. My students appreciate having me teach in the same ways they are used to. They share that "Oh Miss, it's just like in school." Donors like you make me and my students feel some normalcy during this time of not-so-normal. Thank you all so much.”

  • Alternative Seating With a Twist

    Funded Aug 30, 2018

I can't begin to tell you how much our stools and cushions have improved our learning environment. My students are excited and motivated. They come to class prepared. They even have a plan as to which type of seat or chair they will choose to sit in for the period. Some move around and try more than one! Although the stools took a little getting used to, they are now experts and they are the most used every day! One student took a cushion home to show his mother and they bought some to use in their study area at home. I chose bright colors to add to my classroom as well. Some students will only use the "blue" one or the "orange" stool. It is fun to watch them as they learn. The movement really does help! Thank you all again for your thoughtful gifts. We are so grateful for your generosity. We wish you all a happy and healthy new year.”

  • We Can Read and Write Too!

    Funded Dec 13, 2016

Your generous donations have made school life much easier for my students. They are more active, independent learners. They utilize the iPads during all 6 periods during the school day, in my resource room and actually take them to their general education classes to complete assignments and take tests/quizzes. They love it when the other students ask them questions about the technology. They are excited and proud to be trusted with such things. I humbly thank you, as does each of my students, for your thoughtfulness and generosity. It will be paid forward.”

Many of the students I service have been identified with significant language-based learning disabilities. They struggle with spelling, impacting the ability to get their great ideas on paper. I strive to help them share the words they want to use but usually avoid because they cannot spell them.
