  • Retrain Your Brain with BreakoutEDU!

    We are eternally grateful for your support. The impact that BreakoutEDU has on my students has helped them become better problem solvers and collaborators. They have learned to look at problems differently and try various solutions to come up with the right answers. They are becoming proficient with Roman Numerals too!

    The students look forward to the daily challenges and get so excited when they are the first to figure it out. On days when the challenges require extra brain power, they work together, discuss different possibilities for how it can be solved and through trial and error, eventually come to the right conclusion.

    Your generosity has enabled me to continue using BreakoutEDU with my students. The valuable life and job skills learned from these problem-solving activities is not something that can be measured or taught but something that develops over time.   • Unlock Your Brain! Lock of the Day Challenges

    Funded Feb 13, 2022

    Thank you so much for your generosity! This program has truly helped my students develop critical thinking and teamwork skills. When my students arrive in the morning, they are met with a "lock of the day" challenge. They get so excited when they walk in the door and see the challenge posted on the SMARTBoard. The students immediately begin working to solve the challenges. The excitement in the room is contagious and everyone is striving to be the first to open all the locks.

    When the box first arrived in my classroom, students were so excited! Arthur proclaimed, "Is it here? Is that the box?". When I told him yes, there were cheers from the class! I have never seen students so excited for a package to arrive.

    We are using the lock of the day for our morning bell work challenge and they love it. My next step is to create bigger puzzles incorporating our course content. We will be having a digital scavenger hunt coming up and this kit will help knock the activity out of the park! I am beyond thankful that you took the time to support my class and my students. It truly takes a village and your support means the world to us!”

To prepare students for their future, they need to work together as a team and solve problems. This project will allow students to stretch their minds as they solve puzzles to find a code and break out of the challenge. When the students enter the classroom, their bell work is a visual, thought provoking challenge that requires the students to interpret visual images and clues to find a solution and unlock the challenge. I have been using a two week trial version of BreakoutEDU with my students and the transformation has been amazing! The students come in excited and form teams to begin solving the daily puzzle. They work together and talk through their thought process. Watching the students explain their rationale and then test their theory has been exciting. Using the SMARTBoard, the students are able to interact with the board and test their solution in real time. When they successfully solve a challenge, they are rewarded with confetti and a celebration! These daily puzzles are expanding their inquiry learning skills, reinforcing team building skills, and increasing excitement for learning that transfers from their bell work to their classroom assignments. Purchasing a BreakoutEDU kit will allow us to continue using the digital challenges and create our own BreakoutEDU challenges. Please help us continue to expand our minds and grow as a collaborative team!
