  • Fun With Non-Newtonian Fluids!

    Funded Dec 12, 2023

Thank you so much for donating to this project! This project not only allowed students to view the differences between solids, liquids and gases but also allowed for so much fun! They studied non-newtonian fluids and were able to give characteristics of both solids and liquids that the slime had. They loved being able to customize their slime with color, sparkles and consistency. They enjoyed helping each other achieve the results desired as well as gave them some time to socialize in a fun and engaging way.”

  • Going Places.. without Leaving the Classroom!

    Funded Jan 10, 2023

Thank you so much for your donations towards the VR headsets! We just finished up using them to tour The Great Pyramids of Giza! They were not only able to use an app to virtually walk around the pyramids, but also view a 360 degree video walking them through the inside! They were able to view the geography of the area, see the details of the structure and further concrete their understanding of various aspects of their civilization. What an amazing experience for these students! When going to these places is just not possible, being able to view them in 3D is an incredible opportunity to bring learning to life!”

  • Pace Your Race

    Funded Sep 20, 2021

I can not thank you enough for donating the GPS watches to these runners! They are so excited to be able to log their running and see their pace. It is so amazing to see them at the start of their run getting ready to start their workout on their watch so they can see where they are and where they want to be. One student trimmed an entire minute off of his race (a 2 mile race so a minute is a lot!) because he was able to see his pace and push himself to get where he wanted to be. These students are young runners and with the help of these watches, they can improve their skills, set goals for themselves and most of all, develop a love for fitness!”

  • Getting Quality Teaching Materials

    Funded Dec 18, 2020

Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart, for donating to help me teach this year! This year has been quite the challenge for me as I am teaching a subject I am new to teaching! I have used every penny of the Teaches Pay Teachers gift card and I am so thankful I have had it to purchase quality resources to teach my students with! From vocabulary units to games to play online, I have been able to go to Teachers Pay Teachers and purchase something to use and share with my students. Not only is it accessible and saves me time, but it is created by teachers who have been teaching this content area for years and have good experience using them. I appreciate this gift so much, thanks you again!”

  • Connect Code to Electronics!

    Funded Apr 27, 2020

Thank you so much for your help and support in giving to this project! While covid has really put a strain on cooperative learning, we were able to safely take the kids outside, disinfect and wear masks as they helped each other use the new Makey-Makey kits you helped provide! Giving students experiences where they can be creative, build, problem-solve and have fun are experiences where learning is deepest, memories are made and discoveries are found! My students have been able to take everyday objects and combine them with the internet. Thank you again so much for helping to provide this opportunity for my students.”

  • Digital Design and Manufacturing

    Funded May 28, 2020

Thank you so much for donating to my project! The Cricut has been such a fun project for so many of my students! They designed shirts and logos for school supplies from all different seniors that the students know. While this project was slightly difficult to do virtually, the students got a taste of the manufacturing process and what all goes into the designing aspect of creations. I hope to do even more with this project as school resumes and we can design together in class and create custom merchandise to benefit the students and the STEM program!”

  • Goodie Bags for Summer Runners

    Funded Jul 16, 2020

Thank you so much for your donations to my cross country runners! They have been working so hard, running through this pandemic and staying strong, positive and motivated. They are a wonderful group of students and I am so glad I am able to reward them with some goodies for all of their dedication and perseverance so far this summer. I have personalized a couple of the items such as the cinch sacks and the water bottles. The fitness watches I was able to give to a few runners who did it have one of their own to track their heart rate and their distance as we are running! It has been such a blessing to have donors like you who see the value and life lessons learned through school sports. Thank you again!”

  • Fitbits for Fitness

    Funded Oct 14, 2019

Thank you so much for donating to provide a few of my students with Fitbit watches to track their workouts, steps and activity level. Having the watches has helped them set goals for themselves, help foster a sense of accomplishment and also provided them with a bit of competition among each others activity level. Being part of a low income community, the students are very appreciative of the gift given to them. Many students in our community come from single parent households and their parent/parents can not afford to purchase this kind of technology. They are very excited to use and show off their new watch and it has definitely helped make them better runners!”

  • Run More, Run Better

    Funded Jul 23, 2019

Thank you so much for donating to my project to purchase fitbits for my students who ran the most miles this summer! This project has helped foster the love of running for my students by giving them an initial motivation and something to work towards when things get tough. They received the fitbit as part of a running competition prior to the start of the season. Now that the season has started they love the fact that they can track their own speed, steps progress towards their fitness goals. This has really been a successful incentive!”

  • Learning Exercise Science

    Funded Aug 22, 2018

Thank you so much for your contribution to my Ohio classroom! Students in Barberton School District come to school in hopes of better opportunities for a better future. As teachers we try and provide these opportunities to expose students to real life scenarios that challenge, inspire and teach the students about potential fields to choose for their career path. With your help funding this project, students here in Barberton are able to experience what it is like to work in the field of Health and Exercise Science. They learn some of the skills required to be successful in this field and they are able to take an experience and relate it to what they may want to do in their future. On behalf of myself and the students in my STEM classes, thank you so much for furthering the educational experience for these students and allowing them to explore this field!”

Students learn how engineers change wind energy into electrical energy by building their own scale model wind turbines and measuring the electrical current they produce. They then learn how design and position affect the electrical energy production. Students will begin by researching the effectiveness of wind energy and how it is used to create electricity. They will use a CAD design program to design their own version of a wind turbine blade. Next they will use the 3-D printer to print out their wind turbine blade designs and measure their effectiveness. This unit will give students concrete evidence of how alternative resources (such as wind energy) are tested and evaluated.
