  • Rewarding Caring, Creative Cougars

    Funded Mar 3, 2023

On behalf of our entire school, I wanted to thank you for your generosity and support for our students. This project has made an impact on our entire student body and has gotten all students motivated and excited to earn and save their hard earned Cougar Cash for various cool prizes at our Cougar Store! Students earn their Cougar Cash by being, safe, responsible, and kind.

This project is also teaching them some life skills as there are some bigger ticket items where students are saving their Cougar Cash to later purchase!

So again, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for help!

    Go Cougars!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Phelan

  • Active Fun Recess

    Funded Feb 24, 2023

Thank you so much for your assistance in bringing this project to life!

Our students are thrilled to have new equipment to play with and use daily for recess! They are active and having so much fun with their friends by being active! Before the lines for tether all were extremely long and there was only a few balls for 4 square and basketball. In funding this project, more students are able to play, have multiple turns and practice new skills!

We are all so grateful for your donations and generosity in fulfilling this fun project!”

  • Book Boxes for Our Reading Materials

    Funded Jan 25, 2023

Thank you for your donation and contribution to our classroom. The book boxes have been a complete game changer in our class. Prior to this, students book boxes were falling apart and being held together with duct tape. Now they are sturdy, and students are able to be more organized. The students were so excited to receive them and they were thrilled to place their belongings in them without their boxes constantly falling over and apart.

Again, thank you for supporting my wonderful students and their continued success!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Phelan

  • Inviting Comfortable Library!

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting this projects for my students!

We are all overwhelmed by your generosity in making this project come to life. Their eyes were as big as saucers when they saw all of the items being delivered. They now are more excited for our independent reading time and a good handful now race over to find a cozy spot to read when they have some free time and it has also in a sense become a peaceful, calming corner where they can go if they need a break.

With your help they are enjoying reading and reading for their own pleasure. So again, thank you so much for your generosity and support.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Phelan

  • Celebrating LGBTQ+ Identities in Our Classroom

    Funded Apr 6, 2022

Thank you so much for your assistance in bringing this project to life. I am hopeful that through incorporating these books within my classroom all students feel seen. I also think that it is so important as an educator to celebrate our differences and embrace all of our loved ones in the LGBTQ+ community.

My students have loved the various books and we have also shared them with other classrooms. Without your generosity, this wouldn't have been as successful.

Again, thank you so much for helping all students no matter how they identify. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️”

  • Active Recess Fun!

    Funded Apr 8, 2022

It is with much gratitude that this project has been such a success. My students have been having a wonderful time both learning the game of football as well as capture the flag and playing these games at recess. Students have these activities that they can now partake in at recess and when we have Fun Fridays!

They also have been teaching other classes how to play and have been encouraging others to come play as well. It brings me so much joy and makes my teacher heart so happy to see students helping, teaching and supporting others with something new.

Thank you again for your generosity!”

  • Math Exploration with Legos!

    Funded Apr 17, 2022

We have been having so much fun with our Legos we received for this project! Already we have used them multiple times! We have explored perimeter and area already and the students love working with their hands. It has given them a real hands on connection to area and perimeter!

The students also love to use the Legos when they are finished with an assignment and they have some free time! They have such imaginations and love to create various things.

I am excited to see what ways we can incorporate these Legos in other areas of our learning! Thank you so much for helping me bring this project to life!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Phelan

  • Supporting Our STEAM Lab

    Funded Feb 4, 2022

We have been enjoying our supplies and materials for our STEAM Lab! So far we have been learning about circuits and electricity using our Makey Makey, we made boats out of selected material and tried our best making them float as well as seeing how many passengers (pennies) they would hold before sinking. We also made a house of cards!

When my students see STEAM or Science on the board for schedule of the day they're always so excited to see what's in store for them.

It is also a reward for early finishers. When they are completed with their classwork, they can extend lessons or create on their own by posing a question and then working through the engineering process with their question and design. As a teacher it is so wonderful to see them creating and exploring on their own.

Again, thank you for your support and generosity.”

  • Literacy for Black History

    Funded Feb 17, 2022

I wanted to take a moment to thank you again for your generosity with my project, Literacy for Black History. With your donation, I was able to add books to my classroom library that highlight, inspire and create more representation of all people.

My students have loved reading about various people, learning about their lives, obstacles they've had to overcome and making connections to their own lives!

This month, I recently started an interactive bulletin board where there are various people and students make connections to them based on the books in this project and other influential people. It was wonderful seeing them make connections with them.

Again, thank you for your generosity in helping inspire and diversify my classroom library!”

  • Bowman Bobcats Making With Makey Makey!

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Thank you so much for your donation in allowing us to get Makey Makey into our classroom. Our class has been loving every activity! From being completely on distance learning last year, we have been so excited about using our hands to fully understand circuits and electricity! So far, we have explored circuits, conductors and have loved experimenting and creating! Today we explored making a Piano keyboard with conductors!

On belhalf of myself and my brilliant, hard working students,

    Thank you so much!”

In a time where empathy is vital to learn about each other and our past I strive to cultivate a classroom that allows students to learn about the events and experiences that have shaped our history as a country and state. In my entire career of teaching, I have always been left wanting more from my students history textbooks. Too often are they extremely outdated and they often only tell one perspective and lack engagement. Through this project, I want to encourage my students to hear about all the perspectives that make up our history as Americans. The majority of my students come from a low socio-economic status and are English Language Learners. There is a huge struggle to identify with what is being taught in 4th/5th grade social studies curriculum. These books will continue to enhance a print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My goal is to blend History and Language Arts within my curriculum (for distance learning and in the classroom). Through these books and their various written perspectives it will increase cross cultural awareness and understanding. With the chapter books where the main character is a child or young person living through a specific historical event in US it will help my students identify, learn about, and engage with our past. I hope to not only promote a general knowledge of historical events, but a love of reading, and a validation of their perspective in life.
