The Power of Mathematics in the Stories we Read
Funded Mar 22, 2024I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous support of our classroom project focused on integrating Math and Literature. Your contribution has made a meaningful impact on our students' learning experiences and has empowered them to accomplish so much more in their teaching and community service efforts.
So why Math and Literature? Our students love stories! They enjoy reading with others and are eager to share their passion for literature with younger students in our school community. This project not only aims to cultivate a love for math among younger learners but also helps them see math in the world around them through engaging storytelling.
By combining literature with math concepts, we provide context that illuminates the meaning of abstract ideas, making them accessible and enjoyable for all learners. Good stories make math come alive, allowing children to discover that math isn't boring or inaccessible. Literature introduces math concepts in non-threatening ways, building interest and connecting to students' backgrounds and real-world experiences.
The students in our school-wide Math WIN program are committed to enhancing their peers' learning through community service. They believe that math is not just about memorizing facts but about recognizing patterns in the real world. By building a collection of books that pair math concepts with engaging narratives, upper-grade students can read to younger students, helping them appreciate that math is all around us.
Your generous donation has allowed us to build a library of books that will be shared with the school community. This initiative is designed to instill joy in both Mathematics and Literacy among younger children and their families. We are excited to inspire confidence in both subjects and foster a culture of lifelong learning.
Thank you once again for believing in our project and for your commitment to education. Your support has truly made a difference in the lives of our students, and together, we are fostering a love for learning that will last a lifetime.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Blackman

Funded Feb 16, 2024I am writing to express our deep gratitude for supporting our classroom's initiative to launch a Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Awareness Campaign. We are dedicated to promoting mental health and social-emotional well-being within our community, and your contribution has truly made a difference.
Your generous donation has enabled us to create essential educational materials such as informational flyers, posters, and handouts that have highlighted the importance of SEL. With the acquisition of a printer and ink cartridges, we have been able to design visually appealing resources that have engaged and educated others about the benefits of social-emotional learning.
Through our SEL Awareness Campaign, we aimed to inspire a culture of mental health awareness and responsibility while encouraging SEL practices. By equipping the school community with knowledge about SEL, we believed we could collectively foster a positive impact on our community's well-being.
Your support not only helped our classroom but also contributed to the long-term health and wellness of our school community. Thank you for your generous donation to our project and for your dedication to education and mental health advocacy.”

Funded Aug 19, 2022Wow! Thank you so very much to those that the funded and provided our classroom with a new portable mini projector! We have been so excited to use it in our classroom for small group instruction. Visual learning is very important for all ages, especially when visualizing a variety of strategies to solve math problems. The students have preferences about how they receive and process information and multimedia presentations have engaged them in the learning.
Students have been so excited to use the mini projector in small group, anywhere in the classroom, making learning more accessible. This mini projector has helped us gather in small groups and process information from a variety of media in any area of the classroom. The portable projector also helps my students make sense of complex information using various models and mathematical tools and representations.
Your generosity has made a huge impact on our classroom. You are making it possible for us to have the technology we need to be successful."”

Funded Oct 9, 2012We have really been enjoying having an additional Kindle in our classroom. The students have been quite intrigued with the anatomy app that we have been using for life science. They have access to great information about various organs and body systems at the touch of a finger. They can take a quiz which requires them to locate and identify various body functions. This is highly motivating and a great enhancement to the curriculum!
They also have benefited from the ability to practice their math skills and challenge their critical thinking skills with various math games and skill review apps. These are much more motivating than old fashion flash cards.
With this additional Kindle we are able to give more students an opportunity to have access to these great activities. The students and I are extremely thankful to you for enabling us to have this great technology in our classroom!”

Funded Jan 29, 2012Our class can't say thank you enough to show our gratitude to our donors for providing us with the Kindle Fire Tablets and cases. Our room has been abuzz with students eagerly researching in pairs, individually, and in small groups. The students have been using them on a daily basis to reinforce the curriculum in various ways. One of the favorite "Kindle time" activities is to use the educational apps. These vary from vocabulary and grammar quizzes, word puzzles, periodic table review, and much more. The students are practicing their skills in such a fun, motivating way.
We look forward to finding new things to do on our Kindles as we strive to reach our educational goals!”
