Hands-on learning is the most effective way to keep kindergarteners engaged in their learning. The materials I have chosen will allow each student to have a portable, individualized, hands-on math toolkit that contains all of the resources we will be using during a math lesson. These toolkits will help students continue their learning journey regardless of whether they are learning at school or learning at home. Prior to the pandemic, students were able to share classroom supplies and resources. When we return to school in the fall, students will need to have their own tools in order to safely participate in our math activities. These toolkits will have all the materials they will need in order to successfully engage in math activities. In the event that we have to move to at-home learning again this year, students will have a math toolkit with everything they will need to practice and refine their math skills at home, while following along with virtual lessons. Families struggled to find appropriate materials to supplement during the pandemic and this will help to alleviate that worry.
