The goal of my project is to raise funds for each student in the class to get a copy of a music theory workbook that they can write and draw in as they learn to read music. My students are musical, creative people who simply have not had a robust background in formal music training. They are eager to get their hands on instruments, and we do have a modest collection of keyboards and pitched percussion for them to play. I believe the workbooks I have selected will enrich my music theory instruction and help students have a deeper understanding as we experiment and learn with the instruments that we have. Doctor Mozart Older Beginners is a natural extension of the instruction I have planned for beginning to read music. This workbook has accessible lessons, lots of practice, and visuals that will allow students to take their theory work right to the piano (or glockenspiel). I cannot wait to see how much my students grow in their understanding of music theory and confidence in keyboard instruments. Thank you so much for your support!
