Creating Readers, One Page at a Time!
Funded Jul 16, 2024We finally received our first set of magazines on September 17th. Sorry for the delay in getting this to you, but it has been a hectic start to the year.
First, thank you again for your generous donation of Scholastic Scope to my classroom. These magazines are a hit every year due to the great stories both fiction and nonfiction and the ever-popular play! This year I have two reading classes read, so we will use the texts and resources to help boost our MCAS scores.
I have had a sneak peek at October's issue and the students are going to love reading The Fall of the House of Usher, as it is in play form! In addition, there is a great debate on should students wear uniforms in school. Again, this magazine is full of interesting texts for my students to enjoy! It is your generous donations that make my job easier, thank you again.”

Calling All Readers!
Funded Jul 12, 2023We finally received our first set of magazines on September 20. Sorry for the delay in getting this to you, but it has been a hectic start to the year.
First, thank you again for your generous donation of Scholastic Scope to my classroom. These magazines are a hit every year due to the great stories both fiction and nonfiction and the ever-popular play! This year I do not have the academic enrichment class, but I have three reading classes, so we will use the texts and resources to help boost our MCAS scores.
I have had a sneak peek at October's issue and the students are going to love reading The Headless Horseman, as it is in play form! In addition, there is a great short nonfiction piece on the price of concert tickets and why they are so hard to get. Again, this magazine is full of interesting texts for my students to enjoy! It is your generous donations that make my job easier, thank you!”

Funded Jul 17, 2023Thank you so much for your continued support of my students. I received the headphones and cases this week and went to work putting them together. The cases ate perfect for the headphones and will allow my students the opportunity to carry them from class to class without breaking them.
We just started school, so we have not had our official writing assignment yet, but ELA curriculum map shows there will be many to come. These headphones will allow my special education students the ability to complete their project without the worry and stress with typing. Now, students will be able to focus on their writing and not their typing.
Again, thank you for your donation”

Funded Jul 15, 2023Thank you again for your generous donation to my classroom project. The cushions came in this week and I will be sharing them with the students today, as they work together to determine the meaning of words through context clues. These cushions will allow my students the chance to sit away from their desks and on the floor with comfort. I love that the cushions can be taken outside the room for even more quiet time to collaborate. I love that the cushions can be put on a hard chair for students who may have a back issue. The ideas of use are endless.
Again, I appreciate your support!”

Funded Sep 13, 2022Thank you again for your generous donation to my project. The ink came in just in time, as the ink I had was very low.
This week, I was able to go into the Lexia Up reading program and print the extra help that each individual student needed. Once a student completes a unit, their scores will be sent to be with the skills they need, then I print out the sheets.
If you look at the pictures, I was able to print out skill sheets on word study for one student, while two other students needed comprehension. Having the ability to print these extra skills for individual students is really helpful and convenient.
Thank you again for all your support, it is appreciated.”

Calling All Readers!
Funded Aug 2, 2022I was thrilled to receive the Scope Magazines on Friday! Not only did they send September's issue, but October's issue as well. I went to work this morning making copies of various graphic organizers and comprehension copies, so I can start my September issue right away. This month we will start with the non-fiction text "White Death in the Cascades", then move to the play form of the poem The Odyssey. I know the students will love the plays as much as I loved them when I was young.
Thank you again for supporting my students, it is appreciated.”

Laminating For Life
Funded Aug 9, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donations and continuous support of my classroom projects.
I have already started using my materials. I have put out the sharpener and pencils for students to use. The small sharpener and pencils are conveniently placed next to the time and space desk for easy access without teacher permission. The responsibility is now on the students to be prepared for class, as I am getting them ready for high school next year.
I used the laminator on Friday to laminate vocabulary words for our first unit on theme. The words are now on the front bulletin board as visuals for my students. As the students complete model work, I will laminated their work to display on the bulletin board out in the hallway.
Again, I cannot thank you enough for all your support.”

Funded Jan 25, 2021Today our Superintendent gave the students a half-day as a surprise for all their great work. So, with it being a half-day, I was given time to get my signage up before the students come back. I got out my Swifter and washed the hallway floor. Then, got out the old yard stick and measured out six feet. I was able to get five decals out on each side of the classroom. The students have not seen the decals on the floor, as they are set to return the first week in March. Though a lot of my colleagues commented on them, as they walked by my room. Even the colleague I am sharing my room with on my off periods commented how great the decals will be to keep the students organized as they enter the room.
I can't thank you enough for your generous contributions and support of my classroom!”

Adjustable Desks for Tall Teenagers
Funded Nov 24, 2018Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom. The adjustable desks are convenient and comfortable for our taller students. . I refuse to go to tables, as I believe desks keep students focused. The addition of the two new desks is perfect, as it seems I have more taller students this year. Plus, the insides of the desks are painted black, so no more worries about students writing in the desks! In addition, the students are now comfortably sitting in their desks, instead of having the desk tilt on their legs. No longer do I hear any complaining about the desks being too small. Thank you again for your continuous support!”

Stools for Active Students
Funded Aug 22, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donation. The stools have been a hit for my active students. Word has spread that I have these stools in my room and the students have asked to take turns sitting in them. You should see them moving about, while still staying seated! One student mentioned that he knew it moved back and forth, but was excited to see that he could bounce on it too. I am hoping these stools keep the students focused during my class and keep the unneeded walking around to a minimum.
Thank you again for always supporting my projects.”
