Mademoiselle? May I Borrow a Chromebook?
Funded Jan 2, 2025Thank you so much for adding to our Loaner cart! These two additional Chromebooks have allowed all of my students to complete their assignments on Canvas in class without having to wait to use a laptop. Our school is a one-to-one district, which means students are given a device at the beginning of the year. Unfortunately, however, those devices don't always hold up well under the strain of daily use, and our school doesn't currently have any extra devices.
Through your generosity, I'm able to lend students a Chromebook to use during class so that they will have the opportunity to complete video quizzes, online practice, Duolingo, and many other apps and games while they're at school and have the time and resources to complete their assignments. Scholars know when they come to my class, that I will provide everything they need to succeed.
My largest class has around 22 students, and there are almost always at least 4 who need to borrow a device. Since we've received these 2 Chromebooks, no one has had to wait until someone is finished with their work so that they can use the remaining class time to work. The students who most often use the loaners have thanked me many times for equipping them with these resources. I remind them that it is your generosity that provided it.”

Family Trees for You and Me!
Funded Jun 18, 2024Your generous contribution has allowed us to have a robust array of art supplies in order to complete our themed projects in French class. They are organized and accessible to the scholars in a brand-new art-supplies area. We are just getting started this school year, so the supplies you furnished are replacing ones that were used up over the past few years.
The students love using new supplies to complete their projects. It gives them a sense of pride in their work and in their classroom. Just today, my French II students used the markers to complete an interactive verb chart, and I'm including photos of the other projects they will complete during their two years studying French language and culture, including family trees, describing the seasons, an illustrated schedule, and more.”

Funded May 15, 2024I'm so thankful for your support of this project. My school is being merged with another one that closed this year, and it's causing some slight delays with students being issued their devices. Over the course of the past two weeks, it has been so nice to be able to welcome these new students with a helping hand, and a Chromebook they can use in class.
In my class, all of the students' work is housed in Canvas, an online learning system. They are able to access their work by working through Modules that I've created, or by using the built-in To Do feature on the home page. Having these Chromebooks ready-to-go is allowing the few new students I keep getting every day to quickly catch up on assignments they've missed, and not fall further behind while they don't yet have their school-issued Chromebook.
The kids and I appreciate your kindness and generosity in making this much-needed technology available.”

Funded Aug 5, 2012Thank you so much for donating this class set of the Allons-y Beginner French magazines! The kids did not know about them until the day they arrived, and they were intrigued from the minute I brought them out. At first they looked at them and said, "How are we supposed to read these? They're all in French!" But together we picked one of the articles to read aloud. They picked one about Selena Gomez and her part in the movie Hotel Transylvania. They were so surprised when they realized they understood most of the article without having to look any words up! Then they started flipping through the pages and trying to figure out the cartoons and word puzzles. As a teacher, it was thrilling to watch them become engaged in the language, especially in READING the language. And the most beautiful part of helping fund this project, is that there are actually 4 issues per year!
Again, you have my thanks, and that of all 120 of my students. We can't wait for the next installment!”

Ms. Fryer
Livres en Français: French Books
Funded Mar 5, 2012Thank you so much for providing us with these classic French fairy tales and this beautiful illustrated French cookbook. My students have rushed to finish their work so that they will have time to read these new additions to the reading center. They like the fact that they already know the stories, so all they have to do is put the words in context with the pictures. Whenever they see a word they don't know, they try to guess instead of just asking me! When the students started looking through the cookbook, they were surprised to see that the measurements were all in metric units, and I was able to tie that in nicely with our unit on food shopping and preparations.
These books have been a wonderful addition to our classroom library, and we cannot thank you enough for your generosity.”

Rapide Réponse! Organizing Quick Answers and Transitions!
Funded Jan 7, 2012Thank you so much for funding this project that has brought even more organization and fun into our classroom! My students complete several hand-on, artsy projects throughout the course of the year, and having the construction paper keeper has really streamlined the process of getting started on these projects. The students really enjoyed using these for creating their family trees, floor plans of their houses, and French café menus.
The real star of this project, however, has got to be the dry-erase boards! The students love to compete against one another using the boards to see who can come up with a correct answer in the least amount of time. My students are participating in class more than ever, thanks to the dry-erase boards that your donations have generously provided us with.
Thank you all again ever so much!”

Feed USA: Help Us Learn About Nutrition in Français!
Funded Oct 26, 2011Thank you so much for supporting this fun project! The kids performed their skits today, and it was wonderful to see them getting into character and into the spirit of the French cafe scenes. They have been working hard to make their own menus, write the scripts, and finally presenting their final scenes. Having this play food was a wonderful addition to our favorite project. The students are fascinated by the differences and similarities between a meal at a French restaurant and an American one.
Next week, we will start a unit on French food shopping, which the students are very much looking forward to. We plan to organize the room into the various food stores at which French people still shop daily. The plastic food is a wonderful asset to demonstrate the way French people shop for food: they look for the highest quality food and buy it from specialty stores, because they know they can trust the quality of their ingredients.
Again, thank you all so much for your part in supporting these activities! ”

Funded Aug 8, 2011Thank you so much for providing us with this class set of Webster's Collegiate Dictionaries. My students and I are so very grateful for your support. We use them to help us learn the definitions of new words from the novel we are reading in French class, The Count of Monte Cristo. In addition to reading this classic French novel, we are working on a school-wide agenda of vocabulary acquisition to help us prepare for the ACT and Subject Area Tests in English. With this set of dictionaries, we are able to obtain an accurate definition for unfamiliar words so that we can incorporate them into our everyday lives.
Thank you so much for providing these resources for us.”

Funded Jul 19, 2011Thank you so much for providing us with this class set of The Count of Monte Cristo novels. The kids are really getting into the story. They want to know why Monsieur Danglars is setting Edmond up, and how he's going to get out of jail, and what Mercedes is going to do without him. My students are reading aloud and learning new words every day. They are rediscovering the joy and fun of reading, and it is a delight for me to watch. I want my students to be life-long readers, and thanks to your generous support, we are one step closer to that goal.”

Funded May 11, 2011My students and I are loving the ActivSlate tablet, ActivHub digitizer, and thumb drive that your generous donation provided for us. The ActivHub stays connected to the computer at all times, so that I can instantly use my ActivSlate. I use my ActivSlate to assist with classroom management, and to give individual attention to students in all parts of the room. The students are fascinated by the ActivSlate. The first time I used it, I didn't tell them what it was, I just went to the back of the room and started using it to write on the Promethean board. They were amazed by by the fact that I could write on the board from behind them! They all want a turn writing on it. When we do guided and independent practice activities, I take a screen shot of each activity and put it on the flipchart on the Promethean board. The students can then use the pen at the board, or with the ActivSlate to write their answers on the board so we can check them. With the thumb drive, I can now save each day's flipcharts for the next day, and for years to come.
Again, thank you so much for your support of technology in our classrooms. ”
