Scary Movie Science
Funded Aug 28, 2021Today we returned to school for the 3rd quarter of the 2021-2022 school year. It is now time for us to begin our studies of ENERGY. However, we will not get to static and electricity for several more weeks. I wanted to get the students excited about the upcoming lessons so I let the news of our gift "slip" before we left for Christmas Break.
Most of the 8th Graders didn't know the meaning of Van De Graaf Generator. This presented a fantastic HOOK to get the classes curious about Van De Graaf Generators. The search was on and students had a purpose for researching our new gift. The excitement is high and each class is anxiously awaiting the big reveal of the Van De Graaf Generator. Thank you for making it possible to spark excitement in these teen scientists. This is sure to be a memorable learning experience.”

Funded Sep 2, 2021Thank you for your gift of safety glasses. Our students are using them to complete hands on labs while exploring 8th grade science content.
The students were pleasantly surprised when they saw the new arrival. They have used the old child-sized goggles for so long that they were absolutely thrilled to see adult size safety glasses. In fact, they frequently ask to use the goggles, even when they are not needed for safety purposes. I never would have imagined that safety goggles would bring 8th graders so much joy.
Beginning in January we will be studying energy. One of my favorite labs is over the laws of motion. This exciting lab features very small objects in motion, even flying at times. Your gift of safety will be invaluable!”

Mrs. Rogers
Becoming the Scientist Through Inquiry
Funded Nov 8, 2017Thank you for your gift of Science materials for our 6th grade classroom. I wish you could have seen the joy and excitement on each student's face as they saw the gifts for the first time. The students and I were very excited each time a new package arrived.
Your gifts arrived just in time to to help us explore weather. The barometer and anemometer were new scientific words that had a much more significant meaning with the actual tools in hand. The drinking bird, newton's cradle, balancing bird and other supplies have promoted a strong sense of inquiry in the students. These gadgets have helped the students learn to ask questions about Scientific phenomenons, to form a hypothesis, and have created a genuine interest in Scientific investigation.
We have several other gadgets, like the ring and ball apparatus and hand boilers, that will allow me to keep the magic alive for the remainder of the year. I am anxiously awaiting the opportunities to reveal each gift as engaging tools for future lessons.
Thank you, once again, for your generosity and support of our young scientists. We truly appreciate your gift!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Rogers
