  • Ride Away Pre-K

    Funded Jan 8, 2021

My Pre-K students and I are truly grateful for the donation of the bicycles. It has made a positive impact in their lives. They are very excited when riding the bikes. There is less wait time, positive communication with each other, and lots of smiles.

We use the bicycles during active playtime. They are able to work on muscle and coordination skills as they cruise the perimeter. The variety of bicycles help my students learn how to use something that is new to them. It also helps them make decisions of choosing and knowing what they prefer and what is more of a comfort to them.

Again we truly thank you for keeping us smiling, the little faces of excitement tells it all. They are constantly asking when are we going out over and over while making plans about who will team up together.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Chappel

  • Storage Cabinets for Pre-K

    Funded Oct 25, 2019

My students and I are grateful to have you as donors to our classroom. We are using our storage cabinets daily at the beginning and end of rest time. We are more organized because of the storage cabinets. It helps us complete our daily routine as we wind down for the day. Now that the storage cabinets have arrived I've observed my students showing more and more responsibility as they take out their personal items and store them back into place. My students were very excited when the storage cabinets arrived. Some of them started tearing the boxes apart, I took pictures as they tore the boxes apart, they had such big smiles on their faces that was a candid moment there.”

  • Learn English Using iPad

    Funded Jan 31, 2018

Much was given, we acquired an abundance of needed skills through the generous donation. My students are helping each other in a cooperative way. My students and I are very appreciative of the mini iPads we received through Donors Choose. They have made learning gains while using selected apps that are helping them understand number relationships. They are learning how to use mental strategies when adding, subtracting, and solving word problems. The mini iPads have also helped increase their drive, desire, and endurance as they advance in mathematics.”

  • Watch Me Read

    Funded Nov 13, 2015

We thank and appreciate donors like you simply because you care and are willing to enrich the daily happenings inside the classroom. Donors like you make learning fun, interesting and exciting. Just looking at the bright faces, smiles, and listening to the positive comments the children make upon receiving and using the supplies brightens my school day.

Students are really catching on and building their skills in the teacher led and small group center. Skills are improving as we utilize the "Roll and Read Phonics Game". It is so fulfilling when I hear my students correcting or explaining the process to each other. The Roll and Read Phonics Game also helps the students while practicing spelling and phonics skills along with the Phonics Fun Wheel activity.

Our next step is to build fluency as we prepare to read chapter books. This will be a challenge that I am looking forward to. After all, my goal is to develop skills in reading, listening, speaking, writing and comprehension.

    "We Appreciate You"”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Chappel

  • Readers for Life II

    Funded Oct 7, 2013

My students are very excited and welcomes the resources received.

I thank you again for contributing to my class project titled "Readers for Life II" Since the arrival of the laptop, galaxy tablet, and e-readers we have engulfed ourselves with reading and phonics activities daily. The lab top is mostly being used with reading programs and hooked on phonics. My students are blending and sounding out words more due to repetition. The laptop makes it more personal to the students because they are able to work in smaller groups as they focus on different lessons.

The e-readers are very handy to the students on an individual basis. They are able to read books according to their readability level. It is so convenient to the students because it helps guide them back to where they previously left off from. The e-readers also capture and retain their attention span longer verses the paperback books. The tablet is also useful in the classroom. Students are able to increase their vocabulary skills and get visuals which increases their understanding of stories more.

We thank you once again for supporting our class with the needed resources. You have helped us become more involved as we read to achieve our goal of daily round-the-clock reading.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Chappel

  • Recognize, Sound, Read & Grow

    Funded Oct 25, 2011

I truly thank you for your generous donation to my project. I can't express enough gratitude for what you have contributed to my class. It is indeed a privilege to know that you support education and believe in helping children become successful in the classroom. The project you funded is helping my students interactively identify letters and sound and escalate to spelling words as they engage during large group and center time (See, Hear and Learn Phonics Machine). The Phonemic Awareness Activity kit and the Ladybug Letters have enabled my students to use pictures as hand on activities to match rhyming words, beginning and ending sounds, and vowel sounds. The Bingo games (picture word, beginning sound, rhyming words, and alphabet) have helped my students' master phonemic skills while building vocabulary. Also, my students' articulation skills have improved tremendously due to the added manipulative's being used. My students are also reinforcing skills such as writing, letter and sound recognition. The letter and phonemic games are a big help at large and small group time; early reading skills are strengthening. Again, I would like to thank my donors for their assistance while making dreams bloom into reality.

  • Read to Me! I Podcast to You II !

    Funded Oct 17, 2011

It is a pleasure to the Pre-K class for your generous donation to our project. It is absolutely awesome to know that we have others in the profession that too share our passion for teaching each child one at a time. In reading, we use technology to help the students understand the process of phonemic skills.

The tools that you have funded will assist the students in creative ways as they record, download and work with different apps attributed to the iPod. Technology will be used to increase my ESOL students understanding of story and structure. Additionally, it will also help with phonemic skills such as letter naming and letter recognition and sound. Using technology in the classroom will really increase my student's involvement in the literary process.

I hope to share this new technology with my grade level team as the reading process is explored in new and innovative ways. Thank you so much. We can't wait to use this new technology in our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Chappel

My class is a mixture of White, Black and Hispanic students. I have a total of 20 students. My students are eager to learn new things such as letter and sound recognition, vocabulary and sense of story. They are very helpful towards each other when new activities or skills are introduced. My students attend an inner-city school in South Florida in which the majority of them are from single family homes and the median income is at or above the poverty level.
