The students in my classroom love having small tokens or mementos to remind them of all that we learn and experience together. Unfortunately, my role as their teacher often limits my ability to capture these moments on film or digitally. Last year, I created a classroom job for a class historian. Their role, during specified times and when their work was completed, was to capture special moments in our daily routine. This student would photograph class projects, their peers as they were working on different tasks, and moments that I might miss because I am working with a small group. Seeing the photographs that our class historian took really allowed me to see what they saw in our classroom. Having these cameras will give others a chance to see the learning from the students' perspective and give my students a new creative outlet that they otherwise might never have. Having two cameras would provide more students with the prospect of participating in the role of class historian. Not to mention multiple viewpoints of the same experiences. Being able to offer technology that is student-friendly and up to date will be a wonderful opportunity for the students in my classroom this year, and many years yet to come!
