All of our students come to us with needing help with experiences and anxiety related issues that they may not be able to put into words. This greatly affects their ability to focus and concentrate in the classroom. I have found through trial and error that meditation, calming centers, and yoga have tremendous benefits in helping the students we teach improve their social-emotional skills. I believe in this process so whole-heartedly that I became a certified yoga instructor over the summer with Breathe For Change. The memory foam rug would give the students a soft space to sit down on. The bubble lamp is made for students who are on the spectrum and need to relax. The yoga mats, straps, and blocks would be used weekly, if not every day to help students "workout" their emotions rather than taking them out on others.
