Leave Your Mark Through Supporting the Arts
Funded Mar 17, 2011I wanted to thank you again for your generous donation to our school's art program. We are lucky to be able to keep the Arts alive in our school when many schools are having to do without due to severe budget cuts. 400 students come to my classroom twice each week. You can imagine how quickly we go through disposable supplies like markers and erasers. With the supplies you helped us acquire, we will be continuing our productive classes throughout the school year.
The art classes in our school community are grounded in the elements and principles of art, and they focus on the artwork of many different cultures and countries. This helps classroom teachers as enrichment for their lessons, and it creates a foundation of art knowledge on which they can build as they continue in school. Students who take art learn higher order thinking skills such as creative problem solving, that they will use in every other class they take.
Your donation has been put to good use, and your generosity is appreciated. I thank you again, both personally and on behalf of my students.

Funded Dec 18, 2010I wanted to take the time to thank you once again for your donations to our art program. The frames that you helped supply enabled us to propose a show to some galleries in our school's neighborhood. Several local patrons offered us gallery space, and we have established some valuable community contacts.
We worked with one gallery to put together an art show that showcases the pointillist paintings completed by our 6th and 7th graders, and we had our opening reception last night. The kids were thrilled, and the school community came out to celebrate with us. The excitement of the students could be seen as they showed their work to their families and discussed it with their teachers and friends.
Without the donated frames, many businesses would hesitate to accept offers out of concern for the appearance of the children's artwork. The paintings looked uniform and professional, and any future shows we plan will be easy to propose and set up with the addition of these frames to our program.
Being able to see a project through to completion has motivated the kids to want to be thorough and focused in the classroom, in hopes that their work will be the next art included in a public show. Thank you for your support, and please feel confident that your donation was put to good use within our school community. ”

This classroom project was brought to life by Bing and 6 other donors.Watch Out for Wet Paint!
Funded Oct 3, 2010I would like to offer an update on what is happening in our art classroom and especially on what your donations have meant for our students this year. As anticipated, the increased class size and the addition of a 7th grade class to our school has resulted in a very busy school day. Some days, as many as 200 children spend time in my classroom. Each week, all 300 of our students come to art class two times. Without an organized classroom, our workspace would be cluttered and distracting. In the past, I have had to spread papers on the floor to dry when the students finish their work. With the addition of our new drying rack, I am able to keep many of the works-in-progress safely organized, away from little feet entering and exiting the room.
Our productive students have completed some amazing projects this year including Seurat "pointillist park" paintings, line studies based on Hokusai's Great Wave, healthy snack still life watercolors, Frida Kahlo folk art collages and some amazing Kindergarten pumpkin patch paintings. We have a lot of fun, and it feels great when they come to school excited about something they saw or did at home that applies to what we are learning. I hope to have their Seurat paintings displayed somewhere in the neighborhood, and I hope to take a field trip to see some of Seurat's paintings in a museum.
Our class discusses concepts relating to math, literature, history, science and geography. The arts get kids excited to learn about lots of different things, and your support helps to keep our program going. Thank you for your contributions to our classroom and most importantly to our students. ”

Paint Me Your Story
Funded May 3, 2010I am writing to thank you again for your generous donations to my classroom. The paint you made possible for me to buy my students will enable me to create lessons that will surely mean more to my students than simple pencil and crayon projects. If you could see the excitement they show on the days we use paint, you would understand how much this means to them.
The paint will supply our fall classes, but we were able to accomplish two exciting projects before the end of this school year. The first and second grade students created paintings based on their science classes. They made volcanoes and oceans, and we tied it in with the classroom lessons they had been finishing. Also, we were able to "paint our stories", giving some children the opportunity to share their unique experiences of life in different countries. I hope to do much more of this in the fall because the cultural diversity is what makes our school unique.
Thanks for making a difference!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Ammons
