  • Lend Me Your Ears!

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

Thanks to your generosity we now have headphones to use with our desk top computers, chrome books and i-pads. Each student can immerse themselves in the world of learning without being distracted by the noise of up to 24 other devices. They read books online and sometimes are read to which can be noisy for the surrounding students. Those students who are read to possibly need this help because of their difficultly with reading, they may be special education students or may be immigrants learning English for the first time. We also use The Education Galaxy Program which helps them with Reading, Writing, Math and Science. It is interactive and can be quite noisy. These headphones are truly helpful and so necessary.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Elizondo

  • Eyes on Your Own Paper, Please

    Funded Oct 22, 2019

These Privacy Screens have been extremely useful! They are attractive, stay clean and are stored easily in the storage rack. We are in a small portable classroom and have wall to wall desks. These foldable screens provide coverage when we are testing. Students sit next to each other and this provides enough separation to keep them distraction free as well as free from temptation to look at each other's papers. We can be sure that students know what they answered correctly and can help them learn what they did not answer correctly. It gives us a truer picture of their needs in order to provide remediation. Roving eyes are a temptation for struggling students.

The screens are attractive, easy to keep clean and store easily in the coordinating storage rack. They have a waxy covering and are thick and durable. The rack doesn't take up alot of space. The students can get their privacy screen and return it thanks to the rack and design. I can still see all students due to the cut out design in the front. Thankfully they can not see each other.

The privacy screens help create a more quiet world so they can enjoy books and not be distracted by surrounding noise. These screens help make our classroom more conducive to learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Elizondo

  • Step Right Up for a Computer!

    Funded Oct 5, 2019

Thank you very much for your generosity and kind hearts! These two Chromebooks have truly changed my 23 students lives! They are also enjoyed by 94 total 4th graders. Before the arrival of these 2 Chromebooks we only had 5 desktop computers and 5 i pads to share between 23 students at a time. Needless to say each students' COMPUTER TIME has skyrocketed and we have had a cut down on 'wait time'.

The students use them in many ways. They read books on GetEpic and Storyline Online as well as Mackenvia. This access automatically increased the # of books they are exposed to. It opened the world of books to them even more. Our library is being remodeled and access to books has been limited. Once they read and enjoy books they can also use the Chromebooks to take a Comprehension test on Accelerated Reader. With these tests they earn points and can participate in an end of the six weeks AR party and two fabulous field trips.

Research is so important for our Science class. They were able to research information for their self selected Science Project. They can practice all subjects on the Education Galaxy program. It warms my heart to see more kids using the computer and less students anxiously waiting for their turn!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Elizondo

Many of my students do not have technology at their homes. These laptops will give them the time they need to access and enjoy technology while learning at the same time. It is hard to decide whose turn it is on our limited computers. They want to read and take Accelerated Reader tests, play Smarty Ants and research different topics. More computers means more computer time for each student and less sharing. Please help improve their lives and future. Technology is their future and they are our future! Help these young, impressionable students reach for the stars! Computers for all is our goal!
