  • Round Out Our Learning With Sphero!

    Funded Jan 12, 2019

Thank you for supporting this project. My students love using their Sphero to code and complete different types of challenges. We have tried some of the Sphero lessons and have used it to learn about Ancient Egypt, natural disasters and more! My afterschool class also loved using the Sphero for STEM activities and to further their learning from technology class where they use many different coding platforms.

Sphero has been a great learning tool for my classroom. I greatly appreciate your continued support of my classroom!”

  • Tech for Future Engineers!

    Funded May 6, 2019

Thank you so much for supporting this project! This was the final project that completed our classroom's small-group set of iPads. Now that we have five, I am able to assign small group work to students using the iPads. Students love to use the reading and math programs on their iPads, and my ENL students love to use an app called Fun English to learn and improve their language skills.

This iPad has also allowed me to make greater use of our robotics kits in class. Now that we have 5 iPads to go with our 5 robotics kits, all of them can be used at once. We have been able to do whole-class robotics challenges and activities now that the whole class can participate at the same time. My students have had a lot of fun with this and love using their robotics kits.

Once again, thank you for generously supporting my students.”

  • In This Book I See Myself

    Funded May 28, 2019

Thank you so much for supporting this project. My students love the new books, and are already competing to take them home and read with their families. Because all of the books are bilingual, students can read the books in English by themsevles, and share the stories with their families using the Spanish text. I am also using these books as read-alouds for students to make connections between the books and their own cultures, as they study the countries their ancestors came from.

Thanks once again for supporting my students.”

  • Saving the World!

    Funded Jan 12, 2019

Thank you so much for helping fund this project. We received the books a few weeks ago and my students were over the moon!

This year, I decided to go in a new direction with how I teach climate change to my students. We will be using these books to learn about the relationship between climate and weather, and how the climate has changed over time. My students will then study the future impact of climate change and view how it will affect their homes in New York City. While studying climate change, my students will also learn about advocacy and using government to create positive change in their community. Finally, my students will be reaching out to and hope to visit local councilman representatives to share this knowledge and advocate for laws to help protect their community.

Thanks to your support of my students, all of the above is now possible. I hope this experience will serve to help my students become the future leaders we need to help combat climate change.”

  • Sweep Away the Dirt!

    Funded Mar 10, 2019

Thank you so much for supporting this project. My students were so glad to have supplies that they could use to clean out their desks and for me to clean their carpet each week. Now that we have a cleaner classroom and the resources to keep it that way, my students love coming to the nice, clean carpet, and working at their beautifully clean desks. I have also noticed that students are sick less often than they were before, when our classroom was not kept as clean as it could be. The Clorox wipes helped keep germs off of students' desks and allows them to be healthier and more productive.

Thank you for supporting this project.”

  • Engineering First Responders!

    Funded Mar 10, 2019

Thank you once again for your generous support of this project. Having this EiE kit has transformed my after-school STEM class for the better. My students come to class eager and excited to complete the next step in the process of designing aid-drop packages. They have been able to learn about natural disasters, other countries around the world, and how these aid drop packages are created. They are currently working on their final packaging, and next week they look forward to testing it, using a raw egg as their "cargo" to see how well their package would protect more important items such as food, medicine or electronics.

Once again, thank you for your support of my students, and for allowing them to have this wonderful learning opportunity!”

  • Keeping the Tank on Full!

    Funded Jan 8, 2019

Thank you so much for helping fund this project! We have been very fortunate this year in receiving several new iPads and laptop computers to use in our classroom, but always had a problem keeping them charged. It was tough having these great devices and not being able to use them because I didn't have enough outlets to charge them all at once.

Now, thanks to your support, this is no longer an issue. The charging station has allowed me to keep all of my devices fully charged and ready for students to use every day. My class uses their devices to practice their reading, learn English vocabulary, build their math skills, and research information about the topics we study. Most recently, my students researched natural disasters and their impact on communities around the world. Thanks to your support, they had fully charged iPads and computers waiting for them each morning so they could complete their research.

Your donation has made a world of difference to my classroom. Thank you again for your support!”

  • Technology for Future Climate Scientists!

    Funded Mar 10, 2019

Thank you so much for supporting this project. Your donation has already had a positive impact in just a few days. My students were so excited to have their new iPad in the classroom. They all ran to try and use it first - fortunately, we have strong OtterBox cases to protect the iPad in case it gets dropped!

My students have already used their iPad for research and for individual learning. Using a program called iReady, my students have completed individual lessons in reading and math to improve their skills. They have also begun to use ESL apps to learn and improve their English skills!

My students are also using the iPads for research. As we study famous female leaders from history, my students are finding out about their accomplishments and how they advocated for positive change in their communities. My students will then use the iPads as we study our class issue, climate change. We will watch climate change simulations, study maps showing its effects, and use apps to create posters, videos and presentations showing why climate change is dangerous, and advocating for change.”

  • An iPad for Individual Learning

    Funded Jan 12, 2019

Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom. Having this iPad has allowed me to transform my classroom and my teaching. I have been able to create small groups to work independently on the iPads to improve their reading, math and language skills. Having another iPad has also allowed me to create more projects that utilize our robotics kits, SpherO, or require research to be done, since I now have the technology to do so. Finally, I have been able to create more one-on-one time to work with students on their individual needs.

Once again, thank you for supporting my classroom!”

  • Supplying the Future

    Funded Dec 12, 2018

Thank you so much for supporting this project. Of all the projects I submit for my students, having basic supplies is always the most important thing to me.

Your support of this project brought colored pencils, erasers and paper into our classroom. This has allowed me to give my students more time to do artwork in the classroom, and to incorporate more art-based activities into my daily instruction. Since my students don't receive art as a special class this year, I am so thankful we now have the supplies we need to create masterpieces in our classroom.

The erasers have allowed me to break out our mini white-boards for students to use in math and vocabulary. They now use them every day to practice their math skills, quiz each other, and solve problems. The erasers have also allowed us to stop using paper towels as erasers, making our Earth just a bit greener.

Finally, paper; the single most important supply. I have been able to print individualized articles for my students to build reading skills. I have been able to print more math activities for students to complete, and send home fun activities for students to build math skills. Finally, my students have been able to use paper to create informative books and publish work on the computers, since we now have paper to print!

I hope this letter has given you a little insight into how my students benefit from your generous donation. Once again, thank you for your support of my students.”
