Since we are moving more vastly into the technology realm, these materials will better assist my students so they are not just doing the traditional book work. This year I am implementing Interactive Notebooks; according to various resources, the goal of Interactive notebooks, is to enable students to be free, innovative masterminds. These books, act as a "journal/walking Wikipedia" full of information and a student's application of information given. I want students to take ownership of and cherish their notebooks. Rather than the standard notes that get folded up or overlooked, I want students to consult their notebooks when they have questions and apply the information they received. The printer will allow us to add color artifacts to our notebooks, which, hopefully will keep the students' interest up. Up until now, the students appear to be intrigued and amped up for learning, and their negative attitudes towards history are not obvious, but rather I want to keep their high energy up. The materials asked for and other materials such as (butcher paper, various art/office supplies, colored paper, and models) will allow students to get hands-on with the educational programs that we use throughout the school and create work that isn't only one-dimensional, as well as see and share pieces of their Interactive Notebook with each other. My students need a Chromebook, laptop and tablet which will help foster learning and help with our interactive notebooking, while also spear heading them into our tech-driven world when it comes to class assignments.
