Climate Sensors for Citizen Scientists
Funded Nov 29, 2022Thank you for your generous donation towards this project! Initially, I had requested donations for climate sensors which were fully funded but out of stock for many months. After waiting for a long time, I decided to get other items that will be useful to my students. We received laptops and a microphone-speaker system.
The two laptops that you funded enabled my students to have a device to work on if they forgot to bring their own Chromebook to school or if they did not have a working device. Students have used classroom laptops to perform research on their projects or collect data during labs or take digital assessments. Sometimes, it makes such a big difference to have the extra laptops as a backup so students can still continue working on the planned activity for the day. We also got a portable speaker system with wireless microphones that can be used by students during their presentations.
Thank you so much again for giving my students the opportunity to learn and do science with 21st-century technology!”

Mrs. Basu

Funded Nov 29, 2022Thank you for your generous donation towards this project! With your help, my students were able to enhance their microscopy skills and take digital pictures of the cells they saw under the microscope.
My students were super excited to use the digital microscope in class. It helped them learn the very difficult task of adjusting the microscope and seeing the cells undergoing mitosis and meiosis. Some students were able to take good digital pictures and show off the images they took to their peers.
My students and I are very grateful for your help and support. We wouldn't be able to explore and experience this wonderful aspect of technology in microscopy without your donation.”

Funded Jun 3, 2020Thank you so much for donating to my project. The materials for this project are helping me teach my students from home. My students enjoy my interactive lectures in Biology at school and they are continuing to learn through my lectures which I am able to deliver through remote instruction with your help and the devices I received through this project.
The monitor serves as a second screen for me and my students, just like the projector screen I use at school for instruction. The headphones generate clearer audio with noise filtering for better live and recorded lessons.
The technology I received through your donation helps me deliver the lessons to my students effectively and successfully from home. My students and I are very grateful for your support in the learning process during these difficult times of remote instruction.”

Funded Nov 1, 2019I cannot thank you enough for your generous donations. My students are so excited to be able to use these hands-on models as a visual tool to understand the biomolecules of life! Your donation will enable my students to reinforce their learning of biochemistry through the molecular models.
Thank you!!”

Funded May 13, 2018My students were extremely excited and thrilled to see the brand new iPad and the Apple Pencil. They tried different apps and created digital thank-you notes to you using the iPad and Pencil. I have attached some pictures of their creative and artistic thank-you notes.
I can't wait to explore the different ways my students can enhance their learning with the materials provided by generous donors like you. My students will use the iPad and Apple Pencil to mark up, highlight, add annotations, create digital summary 1-page notes with drawings, labeled-diagrams, flow-charts, and concept maps. Students will use the iPad to explore ideas, learn, and get creative digitally. They will also use the iPad for educational games and apps for learning.
My students and I deeply appreciate your kind and generous support towards providing the technology and materials for learning in Biology integrating creativity and art.”

Molecular Models
Funded Oct 7, 2017Thank you so much for providing my students the molecular models of life.
My students enjoyed working with the biomolecule models. The unique hands-on building experience helped my students truly understand the biochemistry of these molecules. They collaborated with their group and problem solved as they figured out how to build some of challenging and complex models.
Having the models allowed my students to have a unique 3-D experience which could not be fulfilled by 2-D diagrams alone.
These models will serve as useful teaching and learning tools in my classroom for years to come.”

Capture your Lab with a Camera!
Funded Dec 17, 2016Thank you so much for your support and helping fund this project! My students and I were able to take pictures using our camera in class and during our field trip.
With the camera, my students were able to capture their observations digitally during their lab investigations and use these digital images taken during labs to analyze, interpret or revisit their observations. See some sample images that were taken using the camera below.
During their field trip, students were able to take pictures and create a photo blog and present the highlights from the field trip and share with fellow students.
At the end of the year, students did their final presentations on their Biology Project. A student was assigned to take pictures of peer groups during their presentation.
Thank you again for your generous donation and support! We can now document our work inside and outside of class.”

Biology with Technology and Color!
Funded Dec 15, 2016Thank you so much for your support and helping fund our classroom project!
My classroom had a black and white printer, but now we are able to print in color. Some printing in biology simply demands that it must be in color. Such as the circulatory system and pathways of blood through the heart. Another example would be a cell or an image of a cell or slide taken through the microscope. Yet another example would be the blue feet of the blue-footed booby bird.
With colored ink, my students were able to make color prints of their digitally-created graphs, posters, diagrams, charts, word clouds, and any creative work that needs color printing. Some color prints were used to brighten up our walls and showcase my students' work.
Thank you all again for your donations and your support! Because of your generous donation, we will be able to make print-outs of biology-related graphics and our living world in beautiful colors in years to come.”

Technology for Inquiry Labs in Science Classroom- Part 2
Funded Oct 13, 2015My students and I would like to express our joy, excitement, and appreciation for your valuable donation to my classroom project. It is great to see that you share my vision for using technology in my classroom to prepare my students for the future.
The laptops that you funded enabled my students to work in groups and analyze data from the inquiry labs. We used the laptops and connected them to our Vernier probes to collect data for our Respiration lab in AP Biology. We also used the laptops to perform quick research in our classroom on our Cell Project in Biology. Your donations improved my students learning by giving them a chance to use technology in the classroom/lab on the same day, instead of taking the data home and analyzing it a day later. We even used the laptops for a fun interactive game of "Kahoot" which we use for reviewing topics learnt in class.
Thank you so much again for giving my students the opportunity to learn and do science with 21st century technology!”
