  • Scholastic News Magazines: Read All About It

    Funded Dec 18, 2011

Thank you very much for the donation to our classroom project.

My students have learned so much from these magazines. They look forward to receiving their weekly magazine. They take the time to read and discuss every single article. These magazines have enriched their lives by giving them information they can understand about interesting subjects such as hurricanes, tsunamis, and the Olympics.

The best part is that they get to keep these magazines and take them home to share with their brothers, sisters, parents and other family members.

My students have expressed their appreciation for these magazines. All of this is thanks to your contribution. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Barron

  • It's All Greek to Me! Understanding Figurative Language

    Funded Dec 13, 2011

Thank you for your contribution to our classroom project. The Language Arts materials we received have given my students a better understanding of the curriculum standards.

They are able to manipulate words with prefixes and suffixes on the whiteboard. The enjoy coming up to the board to make new words.

They practice their English idioms with the board game. The repetition has helped them retain the meaning of the words.

All of the visual word cards have helped them learn similes, metaphors and multiple meaning words because the illustrations are very detailed and well explained.

Thank you again for making such a big difference in the education of my students.”

  • Attracting Students to Science with Magnets!

    Funded Dec 9, 2011

Thank you for your donation to our classroom project. My students are having a great time experimenting with the magnets during our physical science unit. We have learned so much. They love putting the magnets under their desks and making metal objects rotate around the top of their desks. They are curious to find objects in the classroom that attract to the magnets. They look forward to science time every day.

These colorful magnets and the books have given my students a hands on opportunity that they will never forget. These strong, well made magnets will not break or crack and you could be sure that they will be enjoyed by many more students in the coming years. Thank you again for your contribution.”

  • Time Magazines for My Kids, Please!

    Funded Jan 28, 2011

Thank you for your thoughtful donation to my Donors Choose project. My students have truly enjoyed the TIME Magazines for Kids. The magazines have helped to facilitate talking about current events such as the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

My students will gain knowledge and information by reading a new magazine each week. I could see the excitement in their faces as I hand out their weekly magazine. They read it cover to cover and then enjoy taking it home to share with their families.

These magazines help my students understand and learn new things about different cultures. Every child wants to see people that look like him/her on magazine covers or on TV. Your contribution is making that possible because TIME Magazine for Kids takes the students on a journey around the world covering highly interesting stories about people from all cultures.

This subscription is like a gift that keeps on giving. We look forward to reading all of the upcoming issues. Thank you again for your generous donation.”

  • Clean and Fresh Classroom Environment

    Funded Jan 7, 2011

Thank you for your generous donation to my classroom. The organizational supplies you donated have given my students more independence and responsibility.

The table monitors are able to collect and organize our work by categories such as homework, classwork, writing, math, and social studies/science. They file all papers in the Turn-in-Your-Work Organizer. They use the Help Yourself Supply Center to work on independent writing and art activities. They enjoy using their very own Privacy Partions to take tests. The homework monitors use the stamp pads to check students' homework on a daily basis. My students have learned to be in charge of a well organized classroom. They are gaining responsibility, organizational skills and independence. These supplies will be enjoyed by many more students in the future. Your donations have made this all possible!”
