YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!! The students I work with are in grades K-2 and have been identified as "At-Risk" on the DIBELS assessment. They have substantial weaknesses in letter recognition letter sounds, word recognition, reading fluency and comprehension. I work with these students in a small group setting. The majority of my students have little or no parental support and have little exposure to books. Many of them believe television and games are the only forms of entertainment. They have not been exposed or found the excitement a book can offer. My hope is to bring the excitement back to reading with the Leapfrog Tag Reading System. My school is located in a low wealth county in North Carolina. Budgets are tight but the desire to provide our students with exciting learning opportunities is stronger than ever.
