My middle school students need to improve their non-fiction listening skills. Like most children this age, my students need to improve their ability to pay attention to and comprehend spoken information. They also need to be more aware of current events and social topics. Listenwise will help my students improve their ability to concentrate on and comprehend non-fiction topics. First, students will listen to 3-5 minute interviews and speeches. Then students will take notes, use a graphic organizer, or discuss the topic with their classmates. Finally, students will demonstrate their comprehension in both typed-response and quiz form. I will be able to monitor student progress and identify specific skills that need improving. By using Listenwise, my students will have access to non-fiction digital resources that will help them to improve their abilities to process spoken information.
