In Middle School, Organization is KEY!
Funded Aug 21, 2022This is one of the most fun projects I have done. The kids are IN LOVE! I am so serious; the kids love our calm down space, with the bean bag chair. The jolly ranchers and water bottle sticks are been such great incentives. I have never seen a kid work so hard for one single jolly rancher, but they absolutely will! I know it may seem silly, but this project has transformed my day to day classroom management and I am so appreciative.
These items have made my classroom a living, breathing space that acts as a safe and fun space for middle schoolers. I am always thankful when a project gets funded, but this one has really made a difference, even if it is just to bribe 13 year old's to do linear equations :) Thank you so much for making it possible for me to connect with my students and create a calm down space when my students need a moment to cool down. You are awesome!”

Funded Jul 20, 2022This project has been so transformative for my classroom. These items have really made my classroom bright and a really fun place to learn math. The posters have had the biggest impact on my students because of their aesthetic value, but also for their ability to act as a reference for important math concepts. I have really enjoyed having them because I teach 6th and 7th grade math, and so many of the concepts are in both grade levels. I am able to reference back to old skills for my 7th graders, and provide enrichment to my 6th graders.
The manipulatives have also been so helpful, especially for my 6th grade students. The fractions strips have proved so useful on our current unit. This project really helped get me started in middle school math and I can't thank you enough. Projects like these really make a difference to a teacher's space and to their ability to reach all learners and you are a part of that important piece to the school day. Thank you so much!”

Hygiene, Hygiene Everywhere!
Funded Aug 11, 2022I am filled with gratitude as I write this impact letter, because I have never had a project affect the lives of students in such an intimate and real way. While all projects are important, this one really made a difference to the climate and culture of my classroom and made my heart happy. I have had so many students benefit from this project; even students that I don't even teach.
One of the students that most touched my heart was a student who just lost his brother due to gun violence. His family, obviously devastated and grieving, was unable to get the things they needed for their family. I was able to send home a care package with little items that could help their family during this unimaginable time.
This project will forever be one of my favorites and I am so thankful for donors like you who make beautiful things like this happen. You are heroes in my eyes! Thank you so much!”

Funded Mar 21, 2022It's been such a whirlwind of a year and I wasn't sure the transition back to in person learning would go smoothly. I have posted several projects like this throughout the year, and, to my amazement, they are always funded so quickly. It has been the biggest blessing to my students. Being able to give them these snacks might seem simple, but it has had such a beautiful impact on my students and their excitement for learning. They have shown their pure hearts for people because they ALWAYS want to give snacks to other kids in the school who are hungry.
The community at Donors Choose never ceases to amaze me. You guys bring such light and joy into my classroom. The pandemic took so much from so many, but your giving heart has made such a difference for my kiddos! I am so thankful for you!”

Stuffed Animal Adoption for Students Experiencing Transience/Homelessness
Funded Dec 30, 2021This project was so special to me; and to watch the look on the faces of kiddos who have so little when they had so many stuffed animals to choose from, was truly inspirational. The kids that receive stuffed animals are kids who are experiencing great loss or personal struggle and this small gesture brought them such joy!
Working with the counselor, I was able to connect with students in various grade levels all around the school. It was as special moment for me, but also for all the students who were able to adopt a new friend that is all their own! Thank you again for all that you do to support me and other educators. It is truly inspiring!”

Hungry Kiddos No More
Funded Feb 9, 2022You would have thought it was every kid's birthday when these boxes arrived from Amazon. :) I am so thankful for the ability to provide for students' needs and bring a little joy to their day through something as simple as a snack. My grandmother has always instilled in me the idea that feeding people is such an excellent way to show that you love them, and this has given me the opportunity to show that love to my students.
You all are such generous people, and I wouldn't be able to be the type of teacher I am without the support of each and every one of you! My students are your biggest fans!”

Funded Jan 2, 2022The proof is in the pudding as they say. Today was the first day of the snack cart and I already had a heartwarming encounter. A student from another class forgot her lunch. She was crying and couldn't eat school lunch. I was able to provide her with chips, fruit, an apple sauce, and a water bottle. My students are blown away by all the choices! They are so excited.
This will truly go a long way to feeding students and allowing students to have equal access to snacks during the day. Snacks might seem like a simple request, but it truly brightens the students' day and makes their brain ready for work!! I'm so thankful for this project; it's making a difference already.”

Funded Nov 30, 2021This has been truly transformational for our classroom space. Prior to having these shields, we had to have desks spaced 3 feet apart and facing the same direction. It left very little opportunity for collaboration between students. With the shields we are able to sit in groups and work collaboratively as a class. Not to mention the amount of space we have gained. The kids are thrilled.
Such a simple fix to such a difficult problem! I am truly thankful to your contribution to this particular project because it has been such a difficult transition back into the classroom, post COVID. This project has made that transition a little easier and more normal for the kiddos. Thanks a million times over for all of the donors who make projects like this come alive in the classroom!”

Funded Dec 1, 2021I am truly blown away by this generosity. I am honestly in tears as I write this because my students are a part of a community that has shown them love and support through this project. The school has seen so much change in the last few years and getting funding for big things like smart boards is really difficult. The money just isn't there. I have been finding ways to overcome our lack of technology, but this has truly blessed our classroom in so many ways.
In the classroom, we can use a smart board for interactive lessons, for collaboration, and even for fun activities. Just writing on the smart board is something my students are excited about. They will be fighting over who gets to come to the board and do a math problem!! It's a teacher's dream. I want to be able to showcase authentic learning experiences in my classroom and this is such a wonderful tool to do just that.
I know through the pandemic that it has been difficult for so many people, including myself and my students. I've had students lose family members, struggle with mental health issues, and compete with food insecurity/homelessness. It may not seem like something like a smart board would make a difference, but when school becomes a safe place where students long to go; a smart board can make all the difference. I thank you and my students thank you. You have brought joy to my students and myself!”

Funded Oct 29, 2021This project has truly brought so much joy to my classroom. It has brought the necessary refresh of supplies we need at this time of year as well as some comfort and hominess to the space! When my students saw the new rug, they got so excited. One of my students laid down on it and did "carpet angels." Those sort of things are the little pieces of joy that make the days so enjoyable.
The snacks make a huge difference during the day and the kids really look forward to having a snack everyday. That impact can be felt in the room when students don't have rumbling tummies when they are trying to learn. I so appreciate that aspect of the project for my students wellbeing. Even though it's not academic in nature; it contributes to their success at school!
We have a rather large class this year and being able to have things like water bottles for individual students so they don't have to share a water fountain and bookshelves to organize classroom materials will be such a help in maintaining a positive environment. Every project I have funded is special, but this one really is meeting so many needs in the classroom and this project seems to be the one that kids got most excited for in the years I've been using Donors Choose
Thank you so very much!”
