My students are middle school children (6th, 7th, and 8th). My student population is primarily Hispanic and African American. My school does not have the resources to purchase a projector or the speakers or document camera needed to teach Information Literacy Skills in the library. Unfortunately, many of my students don't have access to computers at home. They're reading below their grade level (i.e. 3rd and 4th grade levels). I am hoping to teach Information Literacy skills during their class visits. I am hoping to be able to demonstrate the difference between quality websites and inaccurate websites. I want my students to be able to learn the skills necessary to evaluate good print resources and non-print resources. I think the technology will help me to teach to all the students at one time. It is difficult when middle school students are crowded around a computer monitor. There is more pushing and distraction than learning taking place. We could use your help!
